BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military reported that two U.S. soldiers were missing and one was dead after their traffic control point was attacked near Yusufiyah Friday night.
After hearing an explosion and small-arms fire a U.S. military quick-reaction force responded to find the one soldier killed but no sign of the other two.
A search was under way.

A friend of mine back from Iraq said he was often in checkpoints with only 2-4 people in Western Iraq. I don't know how much better its gotten in the past year with the addition of Iraqi troops in Anbar, but he said they were very spread thin when he was there.

but he said they were very spread thin when he was there.Despite what Rumsfeld says, there weren't enough and still ain't enough troops on the ground.

Why do I have this mental picture of Kerry, Murtha and Durbin, with clenched fist raised, screaming triumphantly: "Yes!!"?

If our guys start leveling houses nearby, the whole bunch will be in solitary confinement and in chains.
We bring so many problems on ourselves.

Rumsfeld is almost in the same league as Robert McNamara, gonna win a war with worthless tactics that only cost more lives.

Elsewhere, a soldier in the U.S.-led coalition was killed and two others were missing after an attack on a checkpoint, the U.S. military said.Odd writing style, but is this implying that the missing soldiers are not US soldiers but from another coalition country?

It is now dawn in Iraq. I hope they are found in the nearby river bed, well and hungry.
