Today our courageous and intrepid Commander in Chief and Leader of the Free World......a world freer because of his courage and leadership, made a surprise visit to Baghdad. It was his second visit to Iraq, the first being made at Thanksgiving in 2003, and not announced until he had already departed Iraq. This trip was different. Air Force One landed at Baghdad airport and the President with a handful of reporters, and his Press Secretary, Tony Snow took a Black Hawk helicopter into the Green Zone.
He met with new Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who was informed only shortly before the Presidential visit, and they met together with the newly formed Iraqi Cabinet in a video conference with the President's Cabinet who were gathered at Camp David, Maryland in a remarkable moment in history. He also met with Iraq's President Jalal Talabani during a private meeting to discuss Iraq at the U.S. Embassy.
The President then spoke to military personnel and Embassy personnel at the U.S. Embassy, thanking the troops, and giving a moving speech about the noble mission in Iraq. He was deeply emotional as he discussed their sacrifice and their accomplishment, and the pride that Americans have in them, as well as the amazing progress in the newly sovereign Iraq.
First Lady Laura appeared today at a fundraiser for Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum while her husband was 'away.' She spoke there of her pride in her husband. She also appeared at a fundraiser for New Jersey's Tom Kean.
Here are the President's comments during video conference
And here are the pool reports from Drudge...........some good reads...............right HERE
The President is, as I type this, on his way home. Dear Lord, please continue to protect our brave, strong President as he leads this nation through perilous times. Keep him close to Your side, we pray!
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose. It has NEVER been a better day to be a BUSHBOT!!

Isn't that the truth? We all know HOW to lose weight, but the actually DOING it is the hard part.
I've lost 46 1/2 pounds on Weight Watchers. I can sum up the one plan (they have 2) in two words- eat less. Revolutionary, I know. LOL! Nothing is off limits, but portions are controlled.
BTW, I don't think you look blobby at all! You're pretty in both pictures.
LOL!! I was sitting eating breakfast with my sister in MS yesterday morning when they announced it on the TV news. I was pretty sure they wouldn't announce it while he was still there, but I was concerned for his safety. Every Islamic fanatic within 200 miles would have started heading for the city upon hearing the news!
I'm so proud of our President, and I'm glad he wore the blue tie; it's a very calming color, and doesn't scream "I'm in charge here". Very appropriate.
Sure, just rub it in.
I put it on my server & it is yours if you want to use it for your logo. If I ever get to learn to do gif pictures I can add your name to either of the palm trees.
Hi Dolly!
Hey now, I've been doing WW and have been losing fabulously! It's the only thing that works well for me. I get to eat what I want just less of it. Healthy stuff has less calories so we get to eat more of it. If we want something "bad" we can work it in. BUT, different plans work for different people. Atkins works great for some people, but I didn't care for it. I felt like I wasn't doing anything else but cooking. I have heard good things about Fit for Life, too.
The President's press conference this morning was great too. We're on a roll here! :)
" The President was absolutely beaming in that picture. Talk about emotion, I was never more emotional than when I saw the video's and the pictures yesterday.
We are so Blessed to have a such a great President.
And the guy was playing the victim card too. Disgusting.
Deserves to be repeated, Pippin. We do indeed!
hehehe............
We sure are blessed, stopem. God has been merciful.
You are MOST welcome, baseballmom. What a DAY it was!
Laura is everything she seems to be and more. My Aunt served on a committee with her some years ago. She is the genuine article. And stronger praise for the President could not be made than that she is his Lady and he is her Man.
And a Librarian to boot. Someone who can never satiate their appetite for the truth. There are very few ladies who can step up to her level, but she never would act like it to another. I know, I married one.
You are so on target about Laura...........and if you have a wife like her, you are exceedingly blessed!
So then, I guess the practice of calling other FReepers in good standing "miserable bastards", and "bit me", is tolerated on these threads, without the chance that someone might dare reply.
Interesting.
This thread is NOT about you. Leave it NOW.
