Ward Churchill, the professor who called some of the World Trade Center victims “little Eichmanns,” should be fired because of “repeated and deliberate” infractions of scholarship rules, a University of Colorado committee said today.
The recommendation, which came on a 6-3 vote, now goes to university officials for a final decision.

IIRC, Churchill's wife was just hired by a university in Georgia, so my guess is he'll be showing up in that area if he does get fired.

The Rocky Mountain News says only one member called for his firing.
The Post says 6 did.
So, which was it?

In summary, they're ashamed to learn Ward Churchill isn't capable of an original thought.

With a day like this, I'm waiting to hear the Mirecki has been arrested for making false claims to the police.
Heh. We'll see what becomes of the "Evil Doctor P": the week is still young.

It's a bad, bad, BAD week to be a liberal! Zarqawi killed, Kennedy cops a plea, Rove gets away, and now this. What else could go wrong?!? "Coming up on the Eleven o'Clock News - Congress entertains some out-of-town visitors...."

Churchill in the South? Oh, dear.
Is the practice of running a villain out of town on a rail still used in Georgia?

I just looked at the Rocky Mountain News site and it matches what the Post says:
Six called for his firing
One said he should be suspended for two years without pay
Two said that he should be suspended for five years without pay
One member was absent
So a 6-1-2 vote in favor of firing.

Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya, Ward.
Actually, I hope the door hits ya so hard you have to strap a pillow to your ass to even think about sitting down.

Thanks for the info.
Somebody on this thread posted an article from them earlier that said only one was in favor of firing.

Unfortunately his firing is just the sort of "badge of martyrdom" that is likely to IMPROVE his chances of getting hired on somewhere
I'm thinking Yale would take him.
This is off the subject a bit, but I was thinking. Maybe we should teach liberals about the 72 virgin thing right before they go to the DNC Convention?

There are some stringent rules about this. It's a major academic infraction, and he has incident after incident. It's not paraphrasing. He made a habit of stealing other people's intellectual work, making up data, and lying about his background. I've been in academia. This is major sin.

And that's why they'll be able to stick. Even if everybody loved him, they could fire him on those grounds.

Ward Churchill, the professor who called some of the World Trade Center victims little Eichmanns... This guy called WTC victims "little Eichmanns?"
Oh man, this is going to cause FR to run out of bandwidth.
That's 10 times worse than what Coulter did (with satire and hyperbole even).
All those people that hate Coulter for her remarks are going to be all over this guy.
He actually called them that! Coulter merely made some comments of possibilities and she got crucified here.

Exactly! They got the goods on him. If he hadn't been such a jerk, but had been a nice guy to know, he might have made it to retirement with noone the wiser...but it wasn't his attitude that came under scrutiny...it was how he did his academic work.

Are we bracing ourselves for the raging pontifications to come?
Any bets that Churchdull will/won't have the stupidity to sue?
