Ward Churchill, the professor who called some of the World Trade Center victims “little Eichmanns,” should be fired because of “repeated and deliberate” infractions of scholarship rules, a University of Colorado committee said today.
The recommendation, which came on a 6-3 vote, now goes to university officials for a final decision.
i smell lawsuit!!!
Hey, that got Capone sent to Alcatraz.......
Preparing to fire Ward Churchill, the cannonmaster uses a pumpkin to see if Churchill's head will fit in the barrel.
Actually, since they are firing him for scholarship reasons, his professorial career is over.
He'll probably run for office.
Or senators......
I hear Ol' Joey Biden is contemplating a run again......
One of my professors at Texas A&M is despised by the administration because he is a conservative and is always at odds with their positions. Since he has tenure, they can't get rid of him. However, he'll never get a promotion to a higher pay level.
I heard the one in Indianapolis was cancelled!
This is good news.
You're absolutely right. Unfortunately, I have a feeling he's going to become a martyr of the Bush Machine and write a book or two, make a few million (from sales overseas) and annoyingly (and Sheehanesquely) pop his ugly head into politics now and then.
Great Week:
Z-Man go Boom.
B-Man go to Bahgdad.
C-Man get scalped.
Churchill attorney says client will sue
Lane: It's now just a question of when By Sara Burnett, Rocky Mountain News The question now isn't whether Ward Churchill will sue the University of Colorado, but rather when the lawsuit will be filed, Churchill's attorney said Thursday. "We technically could file it right now, but we'll wait," attorney David Lane said. "When they fire him, we'll file." On Tuesday, an investigative committee released a 125-page report accusing the CU ethnic studies professor of fabricating material, plagiarism and other types of research misconduct. One member recommended that he be fired. The other four suggested a suspension of either two or five years without pay. The final decision, expected in mid-June, will be made by Provost Susan Avery and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Todd Gleeson. Churchill and Lane believe CU leaders made up their minds months ago to get rid of him because of his widely publicized essay about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. In it, Churchill wrote that victims in the Pentagon were "military targets" and compared some who died in the World Trade Center to Nazi Adolf Eichmann. Churchill's lawsuit would accuse CU of unlawful retaliation for protected free speech, Lane said. Churchill has two weeks to file a response to the investigative committee's report, but Lane said Thursday it's unlikely he'll do so. "What's the point?" he said. "It seems like another waste of time." Last year, Churchill filed a 50-page response to allegations of research misconduct. The report didn't seem to have any impact, Lane said. He also criticized the five-member investigative committee, saying it "fell into the Galileo trap," a reference to the astronomer and physicist persecuted in the 17th century for promoting the theory - considered heresy by the Catholic Church - that the sun, not the Earth, was the center of the universe. Mimi Wesson, the CU law professor who served as chairwoman of the five-member investigative committee, said Tuesday the panel was not influenced by CU officials. In its report, the committee also stated that Churchill's 9/11 essay was protected by the First and Fourteenth amendments, and that it played "absolutely no role in its deliberations." CU officials declined to comment on the possibility of a lawsuit filed by Churchill. burnetts@RockyMountainNews.com or 303-892-5343 Copyright 2006, Rocky Mountain News. All Rights Reserved. |
Bad news comes in threes for moonbats.
What a week!! Fitmas just gets better and better.... :^)
al-Zarqawi dead, Rove cleared, President Bush visits Iraq, the Demagogues are making total fools of themselves (as usual)..... I am enjoying life today.
Of course, even if CU has the good sense to finally get rid of Ward Churchill, charlatan extraordinaire, he will continue pulling down big $$$ on the lecture circuit, whining about how evil Nazi neo-cons did him in. Just watch, he will never take responsibility for any of his dishonesty and incompetence, he will blame it all on his "enemies".......
So who are the 3 losers who think that a habitual liar should remain as a tenured professor at the university? Perhaps their backgrounds should be investigated with a fine-toothed comb, to illuminate possible reasons for their sympathy with this moral degenerate.
There has got to be a better way..........
"I'd rather see him fired at for sheer stupidity."
There, I fixed it for you! :P
He can sue, but he broke clear academic rules. And long as they dot all the i's and cross all the t's, in regard to the plagarism, he'll lose.
