PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - A civil rights watchdog agency opened an investigation on Monday into a Philadelphia cheese steak restaurant that posted a sign saying "This is America - when ordering, speak English."
The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations complaint effectively opens a case against Geno's Steaks of South Philadelphia, said Rachel Lawton, acting executive director of the agency.
The Philadelphia controversy has fed a national debate over immigration in which the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would declare English the national language and politicians have raised objections to a Spanish version of the national anthem.

If the politicos in Philly drive Geno's to go under then I would hope that the Philadelphians would finally open their eyes and realize what oppressive liberal blanket they've been living under for the past 57 years.
I'm not a big Jackass fan, but my husband was watching it one night, and one of the guys went into a convenience mart with just shoes and a shirt on.
The funniest thing I've ever seen on TV!!
I've watched that show one time and it was so blasted stupid I nearly turned it off but I'm glad I didn't, I got to see a prank that made stupid people look like Einstein. This idiot put a Hotwheels car up his hind-end and went to the doctor, saying he got drunk the night before and his rear wouldn't stop hurting. They took an x-ray and the doctor saw the little car in the guys rectum.
It's not as mind-rotting as Jerry Springer, but it is dumb.
The only other skit I've seen that I liked was when they drove a hearse up some hilly streets and let the coffin slide out.

Ok, I admit it, that description made me laugh.
True story, a frat at my alma mater, was to have their yearbook photo taken, the pledge answering the phone, asked what were they to wear and was told just shirts and ties.
Which is exactly what they wore.
Cheese Whiz? Yuck. However, if someone prefers to eat that kind of sandwich, who the devil are you to say they shouldn't (or worse, can't)?
I never said that they CAN'T, like upon pain of death.
Just that if you do, you have no taste.
That is funny.
Reminds me of high school when a bunch of the hipsters thought it would be cool to attend the prom in full tuxedo regalia only from the waist up.
Because they knew their parents would hit the roof if they were suspended from graduation ceremonies for showing up at prom sans pants they opted for brilliantly patterned Jams with Zorrie sandals.
But we've gotten pretty far afield from cheese steak, doncha think? But for a "no shirt, no shoes, no service" sign!
????HUH?????
HERESY!!!! OUTRAGE!!!!! SACRELEGE!!!!
TO THE STAKE WITH THE BLASPHEMER!!!!!
>sigh<
You can click above and read the article in full. The very next paragraph says:
"The complaint will say that the sign discourages patronage by non-English speakers because of their national origin and/or ancestry," Lawton, whose agency enforces the city's anti-discrimination laws, said before the official filing.
Thank you!
Check the story...it's in there.
The story tells who.
But he's not discriminating on the basis of race or ethnicity...he's directed at language...and even in that he's not selecting out any particular language but all non-English languages. If a Caucasian walks in and doesn't use English they are facing the same problem anyone else is...but of course the Left has no answer for anything other than to accuse one of being a racist. If you ever wanted to win a bet you find someone who'll bet you that before a conversation is over between you and a liberal the liberal will call you a racist...then just talk normally and it probably won't take long before you're called a racist and a misogynist.
Nope... Pat's (across from Geno's) leans left.
Yeah, but that's only for heathens. The true fans get "CHEEZ WHIZ Processed Cheese Sauce"...none dare call it cheese! ;-)
