THE scientist who led the team that cracked the human genome is to publish a book explaining why he now believes in the existence of God and is convinced that miracles are real.
Francis Collins, the director of the US National Human Genome Research Institute, claims there is a rational basis for a creator and that scientific discoveries bring man closer to God.
His book, The Language of God, to be published in September, will reopen the age-old debate about the relationship between science and faith. One of the great tragedies of our time is this impression that has been created that science and religion have to be at war, said Collins, 56.

Lots of scientists become believers once they understand the precision and complexity of creation, from a galaxy to a cell.
Does he play dice?
I thought he was going to say the genome was G-d. Steven Hawkings has made the statement that if he could find the unified law of physics he will have found G-d, meaning that physics is the replacement for G-d.

Collins believes that science cannot be used to refute the existence of God because it is confined to the natural world. In this light he believes miracles are a real possibility. If one is willing to accept the existence of God or some supernatural force outside nature then it is not a logical problem to admit that, occasionally, a supernatural force might stage an invasion, he says.
It looks like the good doctor has seen the error of apriori concluding that no supernatural forces can exist or intervene in our world. Instead just let the evidence lead to the logical conclusions. That is the essence of good research. Good for him.
Wouldn't it be something if he announced he believed in Creation Science? That would send a lot of people here into spasms.
It is not uncommon for the scientist's faith to be strengthened by what he or she observes in research. I know that has been the case for me so far.
Through the natural processes he created, of course.
PING! This one might prove to be interesting...
Indeed! One of those just posted this response...
His name is, "Hawking".
Beautiful!
Moi aussi.

"Through the natural processes he created, of course."
What natural process?
Most dare not openly admit they are believers for fear of offending the atheist/Darwinist priesthood that controls the universities and their professional livelihoods.
When this brave scientist peered into the incredibly information rich human genome, the foundation of his atheist belief system was shaken and cracked. The sorry edifice fell into complete ruins when he opened his mind to the richness and exquisite beauty of a Pacific northwest forest during a casual hike.
Thank God that some scientists have the courage to open their eyes and minds and let the evidence speak to them afresh.
The path of least resistance of course
A very good friend of mine, who was a researcher at Sandia labs at the time, told me the same thing, so persuasively that it changed the trajectory of my life. Many who call themselves men of science are made insecure by the idea of things they can not understand, especially the very intelligent. Others are relieved that they don't have to know everything while still finding meaning in their lives.
