The dinner party had gathered last Wednesday evening in a farmhouse in the fertile, fruit-growing countryside just outside Baqubah, 30 miles north of Baghdad. One of the attendees was Abu Mousab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. With him were at least three women and three men, including Sheik Abdul-Rahman, al-Zarqawi's so-called spiritual adviser and confidant. Also in the house was one of al-Zarqawi's most trusted couriers, an aide tasked with relaying messages from the commander to militants in the field. What al-Zarqawi could not have known was that U.S. and Jordanian intelligence officials had been tracking the movements of Abdul-Rahman and the courier--whom Jordanian intelligence refers to as Mr. X--for weeks. Fewer than half a dozen members of a U.S. reconnaissance and surveillance team from Delta Force hid in a grove of date and palm trees, watching the building. After years of hunting, they finally had the prey in their sights.
But almost as soon as they took up position, the commandos feared they were about to lose him. A special-operations source tells TIME that the surveillance team was worried that there wasn't enough time to assemble a ground assault force to raid the house and capture al-Zarqawi; the commandos at the site lacked sufficient manpower and weaponry to attack on their own. As dusk neared, the team fretted al-Zarqawi might slip away if they waited too long. A knowledgeable Pentagon official says the Delta team "saw one group come into the house and one group exit." Al-Zarqawi was not in the departing group, but the commandos were afraid he might be in the next one. The recon unit's leader radioed his superiors to request an air strike.

We can count her amongst his victims.
Hats off to Delta Force and the US Air Force. Good job, guys!!!
Try to compute... 6 people were killed... The article says that 6 people were there with Zarkawi and we know that all who were in the house were killed, so it means 7 people wouls have been killed killed... So the article already contains one mistake!
An old woman by Islamic standards.
I was thinking that the initial reports said two women and a child had been killed-the child being Zarqawi's 16 year old wife. Yes, he was a sicko.
Hi. My name is John Kerry, and I'd like your vote in my upcoming Presidential run for the office and I have no clue to why I posted this except to say I didn't post it before I did.

Here we go again, the voyerist culture asserts itself again. Now that we know about Tom and Angelina's baby in Senegal, WE MUST KNOW 'bout Al Z. superstar and his teenage bride! (This is not the first voyeristic report about the scumbag's demise.) Is Tom gay?
who is Tom? Huh?
Tom is the alleged father of Angelina's new baby born in Africa, who said he wanted to chew on the baby's umbilical cord, right? (My subscription to OK magazine expired last week, because the payment got lost in the mail and didn't make it in time, so I might have some of the details wrong.)
Here's the second one -
"Al-Zarqawi's family returned home to Jordan after he became estranged from his wife. Later, following Bedouin tradition, he took a second wife, a Jordanian woman he met in Pakistan. "

So, either the 16 year old is a third one, the UK Telegraph forgot to mention it ( fat chance of that ), or it's typo, or simply mistaken.
GREAT JOB...DELTA!!!
GREAT JOB...DELTA!!!
GREAT JOB...DELTA!!!
That is for darn sure.
I don't think we can consider the people areound him to be innocent bystanders. All of them needed killin' and that's what they got.
Are you actually telling me that TIME is going to equate Mr. Z with Hitler? But...but...I thought he "wasn't that important"? I thought his death "only makes this worse for us"?
Zarkawi was a sick-o in many perverse ways, and I'm 100% glad his terrorist @$$ is DEAD DEAD DEAD.
But OTOH, having a 16-yr old wife is pretty all-American, guys. Or are you not aware that 16 is the legal marriageable age in many of these United States? And that the age is 15 in many others, and some states have NO lower legal limit (with parental and/or judicial permission of course)? There's nothing requiring the girl's agreement, either.
Here's a nice table: Marriageable_age (Wikipedia)
I presume you actively protest these pedophilic American laws, right?
I don't particularly like those low limits myself, BTW -- I personally think marrying before 21 is plenty risky. I'm just pointing out that if we're gonna rag on Zack's case, let's do it because he is WAS a terrorist piece of $H1T, not for doing something we allow here at home.
Great job, Delta! Prayers for our troops in Iraq and elsewhere around the globe.
She's middle aged.
The 8 yo.
