Jealous guardians of high standards or just . . . jealous? There was a rare bit of consensus on tonight's Fox News Watch, as journalists from left and right came together to excoriate Ann Coulter for what they judged to be her money-motivated excesses in her latest opus, 'Godless: The Church of Liberalism'. The focus was on Coulter's controversial statements about the Jersey Girls - the 9/11 widows turned harsh Bush administration critics. Highlighted was this excerpt from Ann's book:
"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them . . . I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much."
Here's a sampling of statement's from the News Watch crew:
National Review editor Rich Lowry observed that those who publicly proclaim their outrage "might as well go to the bank, take out bags of money, and hand them to Ann Coulter. This is bait. They take it every single time. And Ann, no matter what you think of her, is a marketing genius."
Lefty Neal Gabler: "I blame anyone who puts this lunatic on their air or gives her a forum. If she were a 300-pound balding man, she would be just a crackpot."
Jim Pinkerton, columnist at Newsday and TCS: "I think she jumped the shark on this one. She went too far. She crossed the line. She's like a heroin addict. She's addicted to publicity and money. And eventually it destroys you."
Summed up Jon Scott, guest-hosting for Eric Burns "ka-ching, ka-ching."
They're democrats.
Thanks for the info on them.
Have you read Ann's book?
Thanks for the reminder on Kasich & Condit. I cannot watch the guy.
Now, I could be mistaken, but it seems to me that John Kasich on "Heartland" was a buddy of Gary Condidit back when.
Remember Chandra Levy? I'll never forget her.
On the one hand, the problem I have with the Jersey Girls (and some of the people holding up construction at Ground Zero, in fights over the memorial) is this:
They have made a career out of other people's deaths. Worse, they've done it on the back of their own dead, loved ones. I find that somewhat sick, twisted and psychologically suspect.
On the other hand, Ann Coulter (with whom I often agree, and to whom I would gladly give a kidney for the opportunity to make the "beast with two backs" with) does have a tendency to go too far. She might be right on this one, but she could find a better way of saying it. Ann, after all, is a master wordsmith. This whole thing is really beneath her and could have been avoided. Tempest in a teacup sort of stuff.
As for the Fox News Watch gang, who really cares what they have to say? Pinkerton does occasionally have a good point to make, I just wish he'd stop making them with that obnoxious up-and-down hand motion, reminiscent of the early symptoms of Parkinsons or the onset of Tourette's. Jane Whatsherface would probably have been a good hostess at the local Denny's, had Fox not given her a job. Gabler is a walking advertisement FOR abortion. Unfortunately, Cal Thomas, as good as he is, is hardly entertaining enough to make the show watchable.
I can think of worst fates...having to sleep with some of these self righteous freepers, in particular those with more than one s in their names!
Poor, poor Ann. She's laughing all the way to the bank.
That has been mentioned on this thread, or on another 'Ann' thread tonight.
Old Friend posted about that.
Yes, they were friends.
We're allowed to keep five fish within the 15 to 20 inch "slot", per day, which is more than plenty.
What's fun though is that just about all the fish I have to release due to size, are too big (both specs and redfish). A fisherman's dream.
But, according to Ann, she wants to be married:
Look, she says, I'm just doing this for fun. I'd rather be a married stay-at-home mom, but until that happens, taunting liberals seems like a good way to fill up my day.
This is a crock, of course. If she had wanted to be married she wouldn't have waited until she was a long-in-the-tooth 45. And forget kids, unless some adoption agency is negligent enough to trust this piranha.
Coulter's a mercenary. Her love is money.
I'm just glad that she's the only one in politics thus afflicted. [sarcasm off]
The same could be said (should be said) of just about ALL of them.
Me thinks you have something personal in all this in singling her out from an entire field of people involved in politics with the same ego/money requirements.
Way to go Ann! Make 'em all cry!
Hey, you're GOOD!
Is Ann a Freeper, had to ask after seeing your post.
It's not just the money. It's her vicious personality. A female Michael Savage.
If Coulter looked like Maggie Gallagher (an overweight conservative columnist), you wouldn't give her the time of day.
There is no doubt in my mind that people on the Left are far worse than Ann Coulter. I see it every day. I just don't see that as the issue here.
Drag a hundred dollar bill through a trailer park and you get a stampede of TV pundits.
