House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is warning Americans not to get too excited over the death of Abu Musab al Zarqawi, saying in a statement issued by her office Thursday that it really won't do much to improve the situation in Iraq.
After briefly noting that she was "proud of our troops for their tireless work," the top House Democrat wasted no time in throwing cold water on the good news.
"[Zarqawi's] death does not alter the fact that our brave men and women in uniform are fighting a war of choice in which the President sent our troops into harm's way without a plan for victory and without leveling with the American people," she complained.
"Several hours after Zarqawi's death, 19 Iraqis were killed and 40 were wounded in a roadside bombing in Baghdad," the San Francisco Democrat noted. "These deaths are a stark reminder of the ongoing violence facing our brave men and women in uniform."
Pelosi said she still agreed with Rep. John Murtha that the U.S. should pull out of Iraq, then added: "Zarqawi's death should be a resounding call to President Bush and the Republican Congress that we must have a serious debate about U.S. policy in Iraq."
yadda yadda yadda. Same old same old. The tune and the lyrics never change. It's like listening to someone nag at you constantly. Pretty soon you just tune them out.
Democrats said the elimination of Al-Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and the naming of two key ministerial posts underscore Iraq's growing self-sufficiency, as they renewed calls for a withdrawal of US troops. "Democrats have long said that 2006 must be a year of significant transition in Iraq, where the Iraqis take responsibility for their security," said Nancy Pelosi, top Democrat in the House of Representative.(AFP/File/Andrew Councill)
What kind of nonsensical illogic enables people to claim there is no connection between the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism?
I'll get excited over Zarqawi's death if I want to. It may not change much over there, but I'm sure glad one more terrorist scum bit the dust. The world's a better place without him and that's good enough for me.
As Rush Limbaugh says...they are predictable. Like "...every square inch of his glorious, naked body..."
Sigh. She's so amazingly unintelligent.
She's gotten her orders from the Soros/MoveOn cabal....
Expect the rest of the Bought and PAID FOR Dems to follow along, while the Bayh's and Leiberman's look on in utter horror....
The Dems would have been better off if a term limits constitutional amendment had been adopted. The Dems who would take over have been in Washington two decades or more. If there were term limits, they would have some fresh faces. Why would anyone want to hand over Congress to Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Charlie Rangel, et al?
When do we call it treason?
2006-7 must be the year the Democrats hndle this right and get us out of Iraq.
Scant attention will be made of the progress made towards that end. Wait for the fence-sitting Democrats to claim true victory for finally bringing the vast majority of our troops home. After the GW administration weathered the course.
The psychosis runs deep for these people.
We've been calling it treason for a long time now.....
It's just been that no one is listening...
But they are now...
At my poker game this evening, even the non-political ones are horrified at the Libs and Dems reactions to this....
Not a dopey bitch, a craven left wing partisan bitch who puts party before country every day. Our soldiers are fighting and dying, they just won a great victory, and it is vile to "throw cold water" on this victory within 24 hours. The republicans should demand her resignation and demand true patriotism from all members of Congress. Let's raise standards a bit and shame pond scum like Pelosi into retirement.
GW should state publicly that YES he is questioning their patriotism.
