Dems Irked Over Zarqawi's Death
NewsMax.com ^ | June 8, 2006 | Carl Limbacher

Grassroots Democrats weighing in on several popular liberal web sites Thursday morning said that they were troubled by reports that al Qaeda's top operational terrorist, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, had been killed in a U.S. air strike.

Reacting to the news, one visitor to the Daily Kos complained that using military force to kill Zarqawi "violates everything my America stands for."

"It violates the rule of law and invokes the rule of force in what should be a criminal, not a military, matter."

Another Daily Kos'er was irked because he thought the news would benefit President Bush:

"No doubt Karl Rove will have the Sock Puppet President acting as if he personally dropped the bomb that killed that jackass," he wrote. "But other than a couple of photo ops of Bush looking cocky, it does nothing because two more tin-plated Zarqawi's will pop up."

A third Kos poster suggested that there was little difference between the top al Qaeda terrorist and the leader of the free world, writing: "Now [that] we are rid of one murderous tyrant - how about the removal of another one-believed hiding in a safe-house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?"

Over at the Democratic Underground, reaction to news of Zarqawi's death was also negative:

"Convenient too that this would happen now," complained one DU'er: "Guess we should just all forget about that Haditha mess, the fact that we are approaching 2,500 dead and the fact that our economy is in big trouble."

Another DU poster said that killing the al Qaeda chief really wasn't such a big deal, insisting: "Zarqawi was a fringe group of al Qaeda, and definitely NOT responsible for the bulk of the insurgency and civil war now occurring in Iraq. Any gains that they hope to receive will be short-lived when reality strikes home."

Should I be amazed at the hatred the left has for the USA?

Would they be typing this garbage if a Dem was President?? (I know, stupid question)

My God are these people for real? I thought Z was a heroic freedom fighter akin to the Minutemen? Now that he's dead he's a phantasmic PsyOps creation.

I am really glad that these people weren't around during WWII when it wasn't uncommon to have 2,500 combat deaths in one day, never mind over three years.

This is why I love the First Amendment. It makes it a heck of a lot easier to pick out the braindead morons living among us.

Were these comments real, or is this sarcasm?

One more sign that the "Evil" Party has lost all connections with sanity - if they ever had it.

As much as some repubs have let me down (immigration, spending)...there is NO WAY I would vote for these democrat nuts!

Reluctantly, I have to agree with you. The R's are going to be a disaster for us in the long run, especially the immigration thing. But the D's would take us straight into hell immediately by using the express lane. And Bush has gotten it right on several other issues, the war being one of them.

GET AN F#$%ING LIFE. This man is not a criminal he's a terrorist, what part of terrorist don't you people understand.

It depends on what your definition of "terrorist" is. A terrorist fighting against us, killing innocents, and sawing heads off is worthy of a lawyer, the courts, and the American justice system. A "terrorist" trying to actually defend America should be executed according to them.

Actually, I noted that about 4% of those posting at DU were pleased with Zarqawi's death.

Well, 1 in 25 is surprisingly higher than I expeced it to be.

These neurotics are better known for creative "reality" than they are for any kind of rational commentary.

"Big Deal. In WW2 Zarqawi would have been the equivalent of a low end german officer. Our great military has been reduced to chasing and killing radical office clerks."

But... I thought Zarqawi was the greatest military genius since George Washington? Oh, that's right. When he's alive and causing mayhem he's the Great Revolutionary. Now that he's dead, he's never been a big deal. I get it.

Poor dears, they haven't had a very good week.

Lost the election in CA-50, and now the demon they idolized as a "Patriot" because he opposed Bush (America) is in Hell.

It will be interesting by day's end to hear the mantra of Dem talking points on this. They are probably behind closed doors as we speak figuring out said talking points!

My prediction: "Well, this is all well and good but (a) what about Osama? (b) there will just be another leader unless our failed policy is changed; (c)Haditha! (d) Couldnt we have taken him alive so he could stand trial?

The democrats: once again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
