Thanks to a lead from FReeper YaYa123, I'm able to report the following:
On today's 'Imus in the Morning', Don Imus called NBC reporter Mike Boettcher on his attempt to spin a bombing in Baghdad as a 'not good' response to the killing of Zarqawi.
Here's how it went down. Boettcher was reporting from Baghdad and had this to say:
"We have the response here now [to the Zarqawi killing] and it is not good. There has been another bombing. Thirteen people are dead in central Baghdad. That is apparently the current reaction from the insurgents to Zarqawi's death."
Imus: "How do we know that's a reaction to that, Mike?"
Boettcher immediately started to back down: "We don't know for sure, Don. You are right."
Imus: "This could be just another bombing. They are trying to blow the place up everyday."
A by-now abject Boettcher: "You are absolutely right."
Bravo, Imus, for calling Boettcher on this. Would Matt Lauer or another NBC host have done the same, or would they have uncritically bought into Boettcher's spin?

Snicker.
Ping.
Thanks for the ping! I knew this would be a fun list to be on. Laura was talking about this today but I missed it.
I got a brand new key!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it wasn't about roller skates or keys.....
I know that, now...
Next you'll be trying to disillusion me by telling me that "Puff, The Magic Dragon" wasn't a fairytale song about a boy and his imaginary childhood playmate...
Boettcher has got 0 credibility.
MSM make me sick
Great going yaya. The morning on fox was filled with happy GOP faces with no dem in sight. John McCain also appeared but I clicked it off as soon as I heard his name announced.
Matthews and Lawrence O' "Liar,Liar, Creepy Liar" Donnell relish predicting failure for President Bush and defeat for our troops and consequent election victories for their side; their frustration after repeatedly striking out makes them act even more unstable.
Remember how they lost it during their attempt to silence the Swift Boat Vets? That worked out for them real well.
Grown men screaming abuse at invited guests does not translate to "displaying passionate conviction." It certainly isn't informed, credible discussion of issues, and doesn't translate to successful television programming for viewers not entranced by watching overpaid underachievers having mental breakdowns in their tv rooms.
When O'Donnell was on John McLaughlin Show he had to make predictions as did the other panelists. Theirs would be brief, usually backed by information from their research. O'Donnell, on the other hand, would assume a far-off gaze, like some Druid seer, and come out with the most absurd prediction of glory for his side with no reasoning, just this strange smile that if seen on a passenger at the boarding gate in an airport would send even the least discerning traveller fleeing out into the night, ticket, boarding pass, carry-on, flying in his wake.
