BAGHDAD, Iraq Jun 8, 2006 (AP)— Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaida-linked militant who led a bloody campaign of suicide bombings, kidnappings and hostage beheadings in Iraq, has been killed in a U.S. air raid north of Baghdad, Iraq's prime minister said Thursday.

Say what! Did Paul Johnson, the British historian, die? I haven't seen any news of this.

I HIGHLY recommend checking out the streaming replay of Washington Journal this morning.. the first 30min segment was GREAT.

Let me think here...

The show started at 7am, and opened with the host reporting the news.

The FIRST call was a republican and it went something like this:

"I'd like to express my condolences.... to my democrat friends out there. Today has to be a very rough day. They have lost a huge ally in Zarqawi today and it has to be tough. I will say though, that its not all bad... you still have Osama out there, so at least you still have him. Thank you"

That just set the stage, like flypaper the libs came out FURIOUS. Was a great 30min segment.

You can stream it here later today, once they get it up: http://www.c-span.org/homepage.asp?Cat=Series&Code=WJE&ShowVidNum=9&Rot_Cat_CD=WJ&Rot_HT=206&Rot_WD=&ShowVidDays=100&ShowVidDesc=&ArchiveDays=30

Sounds like he may have been going to a BIGGER meeting.

Zarq's getting a bigger meeting with the Big Boss right now! In a very warm place.

"Listening to Glen Beck's show right now and he just sent Stu (member of his staff) into the streets of N.Y. with a cake of Zarqawi's face to see if anyone would celebrate with them. Told Stu to slice the neck when cutting the cake, and Stu hesitated. The woman on the street who stopped for cake, who is from Arizona, cut the neck with ease. LOL

yes, folks, I find a certain grim enjoyment in this skit. It's a day for celebration that evil got its just rewards."

Typical Beck. I'm mad as heck that I'm going to miss his personal appearance here. What a guy!

The critical temperature for brimstone is 1041C at 204.3 atmospheres.

I wonder what the atmospheric pressure would be at the bottom of a 6,500+ km column of air? You'd have to take account of way the gravitational force changes when inside the mass of the earth. It's no longer and inverse square law, and I recall working the math to figure out what it is, but I that's been a long time ago, and I only had 4 hours of sleep last night.. for some reason...

You should have heard the lib calls after him.

They act all FURIOUS that he would dare say such a thing, but every single one of them... by the end of the call.. were talking about how "they were happy, but it doesn't mean anything".

By the end of the segment callers from the "independant" line were calling in saying the worlds biggiest terrorist is still free... "Bush"... I just love how NUTZ this is making them.

Glenn Beck was hilarious this morning. I loved it when he kept issuing disclaimers that he really wasn't happy Zarqawi was dead (in a very cheerful voice), followed by a snippet of celebration music.

Did he really actually go ahead with the cake serving stunt? I love it.

They may be posting that but they can't go public with that stuff. We will hear how they "support" the troops through clenched teeth. How can we Fool America again.

You know, that looks like a good idea. I think when I get home this afternoon I'll pull out the old 50 caliber muzzleloader and fire off a round outside to join in the global celebration of June 8th - Dead Zarqueeri Day !!

I'm sure the DU wackos think we should have captured Zarqawi read him his rights, given him a fair trial and then tried to rehabilitate him. A few choruses of Kumbaya and some community service would have set him on the right path. Personally I think the bomb and bullet method of rehabilitating these rat-bastards works wonders.

Any good parties going on over there tonight?

As a matter of fact, there really is a "WOOOOHOOOO ZARQAWI'S DEAD" party gearing up right now in the bar and out by the pool.

I'll be joining it shortly. I hate being early to a party and it's just now coming up on 8:00. ;-)

I suspect there will be a few parties among the locals around town tonight as well.
