Welcome to the live thread for the California Primary Election. Polls are open until 8pm tonight. If you are a registered voter, it is your duty to vote and defend your rights and civil liberties, protect your pocketbook, and vote the bums out where applicable.
Feel free to discuss issues key to your local area that others may be interested in. Post your polling place experiences if you like. And post numbers as they come in later tonight.

Governor - - Dem Primary
1722 of 1876 Precincts Reporting - 91.79%
Name Party Votes Pct
Culver, Chet Dem 53,301 38.65 X
Blouin, Mike Dem 47,301 34.30
Fallon, Ed Dem 35,587 25.80
Mohamed, Sal Dem 1,727 1.25 "
That sucks. Culver has been running ahead of Nussle in the polls. Blouin would have been an easier opponent.

''As long as your husband wasn't wearing a statement for a candidate on the ballot the Dems have to keep their mouths shut. ''......Thats what we thought too, but after looking at the Rat poll workers face upon seeing my husbands tee shirt you would think he had been wearing a ''666'' symbol instead of a small ''G.W. Bush''. I guess to the RATS its the same thing........

One thing I notice is that the absentees in the 50th are only 60% as much as in April, while I suspect the total vote will be similar. Thus, there is more margin of error than in April. But an 8% lead should be enough, if the vote as it comes in, is as stable as last time. I have no reason to think it will not. But it could get tight.

It's far too early to call a statewide proposition (last time, the liberal position squeaked in at the end as heavily urban Bay Area and L.A. County votes trickled in last), but so far, Meathead's Proposition 82 is going down in all but San Francisco, Alameda and Sierra counties. It's even losing in L.A. County and the rest of the Bay Area.

Looks like westly has closed gap slightly, I personally would rather see westly win, and really throw the dems for a loop having their anointed one bounced in the primary.
westly has plenty of baggage of his own.

Also crazy close:
IA-01 Dem primary (Open Seat)
http://www.whotv.com/Global/link.asp?L=53083
Precincts Reporting: 314 Of 334 94%
Rick Dickinson 9494 35%
Bruce Braley 9438 35%
Bill Gluba 7026 26%
Denny Heath 1066 4%
Braley's the favorite and has been gaining of late in the vote totals, but this one's way too close to call right now.
To: Hildy
Not yet.
No returns from today have been reported.
New results:
under 12% of the vote:
Brian - 51%
Busby -- 42%
WOO-HOO!

I was looking at the County vote-count status. It looks like Los Angeles is yet to add in any of their results. That could swing a *lot* of things--including Prop 82.
Stay tuned! LOL Never a dull moment in California!

Me too. Hope they hear this loud and clear. That goes to Jorge Arbusto, Carols Roacha, Antonio Snow, Juan McCaneo, and Lupey Goucho. You talk like an illegal alien.

It's looking good for him. I can't help but wonder how much of Busby's "you don't need papers for voting" snafu (a screw up repeated Monday outside the Registrar in an interview) killed her momentum.
