Welcome to the live thread for the California Primary Election. Polls are open until 8pm tonight. If you are a registered voter, it is your duty to vote and defend your rights and civil liberties, protect your pocketbook, and vote the bums out where applicable.
Feel free to discuss issues key to your local area that others may be interested in. Post your polling place experiences if you like. And post numbers as they come in later tonight.
Pombo's gone up now:
Thomas (Tom) A. Benigno - 1,322 - 6.4
Paul N. "Pete" Mc Closkey, Jr. - 6,438 - 31.2
* Richard W. Pombo - 12,867 - 62.4
It seems too early to conclude much though. Only 5 of 642 precincts, thought that includes all the early votes, right?
Nothing about actual returns yet. Just reports of the absentee ballots.
You husband must be a total gentleman. He was treated horridly by that democrat poll worker. GOOD on him for merely removing his shirt to vote!
I was responding to Soul Searcher's post # 263
I could see where that thread was heading and I took the Pasadena off ramp.
If they are only absentee I wonder why they are reporting percentage of precincts counted?
My local State Senate race primary was actually between a woman (R) and a semi-homeless guy (R).
The homeless guy is getting more than 20%.
Sad, sad state of affairs.
numb nuts, out of state folks that think we should put up with the invasion so they can have cheep food and labor.
I am listening to KOGO live and the guy just said that actual returns of ballots cast today will be announced within a half hour.
I also heard him refer to 13% have been counted with Brian leading, so put me into the CONFUSED column. OK, Roger just said the 13% are absentee ballots.
If you believe that human waste is equal in its toxicity to cow waste, you are truly ignorant. (And I see that you fail to mention, at all, the other toxic wastes being "imported" to Kern County!)
Certainly, your belief that Kern County should "just shut up and take it" shows great arrogance.
Next, I expect to hear you say, "You'd better put some ice on that."
I'm posting this to you because I don't want to encourage Bush bashers to trash the President or me. I know many don't agree with several aspects of his program or what they perceive as his program for the illegal immigration issue.
I don't think you're a basher, in other words.
You commented, hope they are listening inside the Beltway. Julie, I just found out yesterday, and heard from the President's own mouth today in confirmation, that Bush has appointed a Secret Service guy to head the Customs and Border Patrol. The man has been first a long-time agent going back to Nixon and more recently the actual in-charge superior of the entire SS.
I think this ought to be a very good thing. What does everyone think of when they hear the words, Secret Service? Yep, exactly...they think of security, security, security. These guys are the best in the world at that. Bush said today, he's in this new job now because "I put him there", to do what we all agree on...secure the border". He seemed proud that he'd tapped a security expert to "secure the borders".
There's no doubt in my mind that the security message has gotten through perhaps more than the naysayers realize, so focused as they are on despising Bush's other ideas about illegal immigration such as guest worker and possible path to citizenship after jumping through a bunch of hoops, which they call amnesty.
Secret Service guy to head the Customs and Border Patrol...hmmmmm.
San Juoquin came in. Pombo's margin will drop when Santa Clara absentees come in (that one rich suburb nestled against the mountains basically, and prime McCloskey country), the name of which escapes me at the moment.) It is all absentees. Probably with all the votes in, the numbers you posted will be about right, but I could be wrong.
I haven't read the thread but, AP declared McClintock a winner a little while ago... saprise... saprise... saprise!!!
Last time I looked there was a lot more empty space to dump things in Kern County than in LA.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN CA 50?
You've mentioned L.A. repeatedly. Isn't the majority of that stuff coming from Ventura County?
All the votes are absentee, and the guy was just chatting that some day votes might start dribbling in, in 30 minutes. The start kicking in about 10 pm PST.
Why do politicians in Kern County any ban on receiving or using out-of-county waste would be constitutional? There's a line of Supreme Court cases that would seem to suggest that it isn't.
