A preliminary military inquiry found evidence that U.S. Marines killed two dozen Iraqi civilians in an unprovoked attack in November, contradicting the troops account, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.
President George W. Bush said he was troubled by news stories on the November 19 killings of men, women and children in the town of Haditha, and a general at the Pentagon said the incident could complicate the job for the 130,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.
Allegations such as this, regardless of how they are borne out by the facts, can have an effect on the ability of U.S. forces to continue to operate, Army Brig. Gen. Carter Ham, deputy director for regional operations for the militarys Joint Staff, told a Pentagon briefing.

I'm not spreading rumors. It's about Karl Rove if you want to know the truth.

That's a sweet cut-and-paste rant from the other thread. Having trouble re-typing your talking points without the typos?

"So NOW when one of the Junk Media types ASK a question and the Military Type response that is "proof" of a war crime?"
I am really starting to wonder what bars some of our members frequent. It is like you can repeat a dozen times some facts you just addressed, and some just cannot understand the simplicity of what you suggested. Are they that roped in by the L/MSM methodologies at brainwashing at this point?

I don't think Laura is throwing ashtrays at him but things have gone downhill. I'd bet money that she's not at all fond of Karl Rove who imo is responsible for the immigration push, all the capitulating to the left and the big spending.
Once again, site a link or stop spreading rumors.

Well, whoever is behind the immigration push, and it might well be Rove, should be fired..

"The girl that clearly states they were aware of the IED, they didn't leave for school that morning because they were waiting for it to blow up."I'd think they'd want the kids out of the house if that was the case. What time does school start? Since when are 10 y/o girl's in on attack plans? Where is this interview?

Every right to criticize a President during a time of war?
That's something liberal's do.
I am really getting tired of posts trashing the President instead of criticizing, pray.

Yes, and it seems the same ol freepers come out and "support" the troops everytime, lol, just like the same ones "support" the President.
Funny how they saddle up with the left/MSM on ANY controversy.
I'll stand by these Marines no matter what they did.

Unfortunately the decision wasn't made at the start that the official response without deviation was that there was no lapse of discipline and no 'unlawful acts'. Media presentations would receive a frigid stonewall and those stricken with a bout of too tender conscience within the services (particularly those pests from the military judiciary) could have been squelched in the myriad of ways the military can drop a fair sized mountain on those who annoy the people up the chain of command. This incident was not big enough to be a My Lai so relentless plausible denial could have contained the problem long enough to make it of purely historical interest when it eventually got fully ventilated. Both the Army and the Marines dealt with at least one episode of a similar nature in Viet Nam in this manner in a very successful way. The Army case was far larger than this and was quite protracted and deliberate, actually a sort of Mano Blanco operation which probably did strike terror into some of the appropriate hearts. There is never any reason to tell a damaging truth in war if a convenient lie or half truth can be fabricated to provide cover.

We put our kids in a hell hole, tell them to police it, and to expect their legs to get blown off at any moment. Their buddies are killed in front of them, and so they snap. Then we get puffed up with indignation and scream for their punishment.

See my posts about Karl Rove. He's responsible for everything going wrong since 2004 with the president's image. They didn't need to hire Tony Snow. They needed to fire Karl Rove.

My source is a conservative. Karl Rove's gotta go. Name him. Rove is no longer on the White House staff, nor does he work for the President.
You are slandering the First Lady of the United States. What's more, I don't think there is any source. You got caught smearing Laura Bush, and you made up a "source."
You should ask that your posts be taken down, or I will do it for you.

It's not what anyone of them (W, SecDef, etc) have said, it's that they have even addressed the issue at all. I believe they believe it is going to be bad and they are trying to soften the blow. I can't blame them for that.
I lived through My Lai and was between tours when it happend. I knew Hugh Thompson after the fact and I saw what the Peers investigation and subsequent Calley trial did to this country and my Army. I guess I was naive in thinking it wouldn't happen again.
To: roses of sharon
Care to elaborate on that position? Do you really mean no matter what they did? That there is NOTHING they could have done that you would find repugnant and utterly without justification?

Click over to abc's web site and see how they are playing this story, its enough to make you puke. There is NO balance in the media today, on this story, or on any other war story. They are working over time to turn american's against our military; but I believe it will backfire yet again. The democrats/media are over playing their hand yet again.

That's right. They aren't actually moving to the left. They are moving away from everybody in America. It doesn't make any sense. Rove is causing more harm than good and I don't think Rove even cares.

In situations involving combat it matters not what the truth is. The actions of your forces are always correct and lawful the enemy is always wrong. This is about winning not about being right or wrong. The Romans said 'In the face of arms law is silent. A NCO I knew said it more bluntly 'Right Smitgt, it's whether you win or lose that counts.'
