... Snow said that he has been assured by the Pentagon that "all the details" will be made available...
Rep. John Murtha... has said Marines shot and killed unarmed civilians in a taxi at the scene and went into two homes and shot others.
On Tuesday, [Snow] said President Bush learned of the killings only after a reporter from Time magazine asked questions...
Asked when Bush was first briefed about the events in Haditha, an insurgent stronghold in western Iraq, Snow replied Tuesday: "When a Time reporter first made the call."
According to the attorney for one of three Marine Corps officers relieved of command from a Marine battalion are not targets of investigations into whether their troops killed the civilians or tried to cover it up.
Meanwhile, Lance Cpl. James Crossan of North Bend, Wash., who was injured in the roadside bomb attack in Haditha, told a Seattle television station that some of the Marines might have snapped after seeing one of their own killed in action.
"So, I think they were just blinded by hate ... and they just lost control," Crossan told KING-TV, which aired the interview Tuesday.
The targets... are about a dozen enlisted Marines, according to Hackett, a Marine reservist and Iraqi war veteran who represents Kimber... [Hackett] said the highest ranking among those under investigation is a staff sergeant who led the four-vehicle convoy that was hit by the bomb.
Kimber... was relieved of command last month because his subordinates... used profanity and criticized the performance of Iraqi security services during an interview with Britain's Sky News TV...
...Hackett told The Associated Press by telephone. "He's not under investigation for anything related to what has played out in the press." [snip]

I was just thinking this on memorial day as I was reading eyewitness transcripts from survivors of Okinawa 1945, the entire conflict was an atrocity by todays standards.
War is an atrocity and a necessary evil. Accept it as war and stop dissecting every move. We are crippling ourselves by dancing to the leftist agenda.
FINALLY! Someone making some sense.
Always nice to hear that! Sometimes I think everyone is losing their minds.
Thanks!
I understand your motive but why give this Marine's adress to the world?
"War is an atrocity and a necessary evil. Accept it as war and stop dissecting every move. We are crippling ourselves by dancing to the leftist agenda."
Good and fair comment. The subject should be discussed as such....the crippling dance.
I am begining to wonder if a war can be won by a legitimate army in todays world without overwhelming media support......
There has been no war won without public support. We have leftists kneecapping our endeavors.
Good and fair comment. The subject should be discussed as such....the crippling dance.
We permit the leftists to make the agenda and judge the agenda. We just dance...conservatives need to make their agenda and say So what? to the leftist tripe.
I think that is what I enjoyed to most about Rummy.
Good Grief.
He wants his email address public. .
ok then....you do of course understand the reason for my concern
Is anyone standing up for these troops? I thought they were innocdent until proven guilty? I wish our administration and "leaders" would say so strongly instead of "if guilty will be punished."
I thought they were innocdent until proven guilty?
In a civilian court, yes. I don't know about courts-martial.
Agree 100%.
Yeah, don't you love the way they go slinking off into the quietness of the dark when their lack of faith in our fighting mens' ethics and honor is proved to have been the wrong course?
They're no better than the treacherous lying media they parrot and believe.
It may not have been P.T. Barnum who said there's a sucker born every minute, but the adage remains true no matter who said it. People who take the word of the media and local rumor over that of our guys are foolish and despicable for forsaking our soldiers and don't deserve the freedom secured for them by the blood of these fighting men. It is our duty as the benefactors of the sacrifices of these men and their families to support them until that becomes no longer possible through incontrovertible proof beyond a reasonable doubt presented in the proper venue. Until and unless that happens, they should do the honorable thing and STFU.
They are innocent till proven guilty. No one is changing the standard. Unless they are a judge, they can't determine actual guilt, they can give their opinion.
So, shoot them, either way.
Your comment is the dumbest thing I've read all day. And the competition is legion.
Amen to that, and well said.
Your reading comprehension is painfully wanting. I didn't say shoot them no matter what. Shoot them if they are the enemy. If our guys aren't sure of their intent, expect the worst and be wary of them because they are there and should be suspected of the worst for the safety of our guys. Our soldiers should not have to conduct a full investigation in order to decide whether those they encounter are hostiles from which they need to protect themselves. That's a great way to get killed.
It must have taken your mother hours to explain the plot behind Winnie the Pooh to you.
If they were innocent, you said, they should be assumed to be not innocent by their presence there.
What is the proportionate response to someone, in your scenario, who is presumed to be not innocent?
It depends on what their immediate access to deadly force is.
