Contrary to claims from Rep. John Murtha, Marines accused of executing 24 innocent Iraqis in the village of Haditha last November were indeed fired upon after their convoy was hit by a roadside bomb - according to a lawyer involved in the case.
"There's a ton of information that isn't out there yet," the lawyer said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity to the Washington Post.
He said contemporaneous radio messages reviewed by military investigators will show that Marines accused of unprovoked retaliation after the blast had, in fact, come under small-arms fire.
Rep. Murtha has insisted that initial reports that the Marines were fired on were part of the military's attempts to cover up the wanton execution of 24 innocent Iraqis.
"The reports that I have, from the highest level [show] no firing at all," he told ABC News on Sunday. "No interaction. No military action at all in this particular incident."
Media reports have also claimed that no one fired at the Marines.
The Los Angeles Times, for instance, reported on Saturday:
"The Marines involved in the incident initially reported that they had become embroiled in a firefight with insurgents after the explosion. However, evidence that later emerged contradicted that version."

Filthy Murtha and the anti-American left should hang their heads in shame!

Murtha probably watches PBS and gets his ideas from those Viet Nam war documentaries.

Murtha, MSM and the left won't be satisfied until a bunch of our troops get killed because instead of firing back when they're fired on they'll freeze instead because of false charges they'll be accused of by the traitors Murtha, MSM and the left.

We don't know for sure the charges are false. But certainly the soldiers should not be tried in the MSM, nor by the likes of Tokyo Rose Murtha.

its funny how that female child tells the camera how she knew when the IED was going to go off and she covered her ears. Not so innocent sounding to me. They were probably harboring terrorist or providing a safe haven for them... If that is the case they deserve what they got. Also has anyone looked at those supposed shell casings? They look like 7.62 (AK-47) rounds than 5.556 NATO (m-16) casings.
To: Aussie Dasher
This whole thing smells of a set up by the insurgents; to use civilians as human shields then bug out, leaving dead women and children with no weapons around to make it look like a massacre.

Maybe "from the highest level" is the highest temporal level. Most likely it should read from the "highest demorat level".

This whole thing just P*sses me off badly...it casts a dishonorable light on some of the most honorable men (and women) amongst us. It is reprehensible. And, when it is proven false he (Murtha) should be at a minimum censured and in a perfect world expelled. I doubt treason is an option if he said these remarks 1st on the house floor - too bad. Most countries would not even bother looking into such allegations as they are acceptable to their culture. It is only because every life is precious to us that this likely lie results in any attention at all.

In a conflict where our guys face a suicidal enemy on a daily basis, it's got to be shoot first and ask questions later. Otherwise our soldiers are serving no purpose other than being targets for the enemy. An enemy that specifically hides among the civilians and uses them as shields and cover.
The Iraqi civilians had best understand that, or suffer the consequences. When they see terrorists operating from their streets and houses, they better move out fast and report it to the nearest Iraqi authorities.
This is a challenge as much for the Iraqi people as it is for our soldiers. The terrorists have brought the battle into their streets, and they better start becoming part of the solution or it is going to be their problem.

No no no ... it's allah cultural misunderstanding!
Sura 9:5 of the Koranus, wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush.
" upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in God." Sura 9:29
"Strike off their heads then, and strike off from them every finger tip." - Sura 8:12
Ya see now???? Their "religion" requires them to attempt to murder us! Just a little cultural difference, that's all!

Time to stop embedding reporters w/troops, because too many of the reporters and photographers are rats just looking for an "incident" to make their name off of. Sickens me.
To: Aussie Dasher
Murtha is using his position in politics, and his "military" past to spit on America. Pure and simple. He should be prosecuted.
