BAGHDAD, Iraq, May 28 — Hiba Abdullah survived the killings by American troops in Haditha last Nov. 19, but said seven others at her father-in-law's home did not. She said American troops shot and killed her husband, Rashid Abdul Hamid. They killed her father-in-law, Abdul Hamid Hassan Ali, a 77-year-old in a wheelchair, shooting him in the chest and abdomen, she said.

And if it proves to be false, as I suspect it will, the Conservatives in congress need to call the MSM up to Capitol Hill and spank them fiercely.

The name of the Iraqi who conducted the interviews for The Times is being withheld for his own safety, because insurgents often make a target of Iraqis deemed collaborators.

This strikes me as pure bs. An Iraqi trying to ferret out details on the evil doings of the great satan would not be considered a collaborator. Far from it. His last name is probably Zarqawi.

Marine Lt. Pantano was court marshalled for murder a year ago, after 5 days of testimony the charges were dropped. He was libeled in the media as being guilty as these Marines have been. Jack Murtha sparked the media firestorm on this incident and Lt. Pantano has some choice words for Murtha in his letter.

A must read if you have not already read it.

I hate this story..whether its BS or not. (and I suspect it's running closer to BS than the truth).
Regardless, I'm afraid the damage has already been done.

It's no different than when Ted Koppel (howdy doody) of Nightline went to Viet Nam during the 2004 election to interview some old Viet Cong about the Hanoi John Kerry Swiftboat story. John O'Neil's words to Ted Koppel were something like....."Ted, what's wrong with you. You have been had by a bunch of communists".

People who have never been in combat seem to think they know the most about it. This is particulalry true of reporters.

Basically, the Times is saying that a local freelancer they hired claims that he spoke to four people who claim to have been present at Haditha.

That doesn't even reach the Jayson Blair standard of due diligence.

Representative Murtha said a marine fired an AK-47 rifle so there would be spent cartridges near the body,

Mr. Murtha does a great disservice to this country and to
Marines in general with these type of pronouncements.

Yes...you are so right...IF one or even two Marines started killing civilians for no reason...we KNOW that the rest would stop them..

There is no such thing as "group instant insanity"...

Everyone does realize that it is acceptable for Muslims to lie to infidels, right?

And you do realize that you are an infidel, right?

I was wondering how long it would take to get the illegal immigrant issue into our Marines being crucified by Murtha and the press.

GET LOST.

If these killings occurred, there's a good chance they were perpetrated by terrorists wearing counterfeit American uniforms. The story is all based on accounts given by Iraqi civilians living in a terrorist controlled area. That, and fake US uniforms, make a good recipe for a frame-up of a group of innocent Marines.

Remember also the NYT's greatest journalistic triumph, Walter Duranty's account of the idyllic life in the Soviet Union in the 1930's while Stalin was perpetrating the great Ukrainian Terror Famine that killed about 10 million people, a little detail Duranty and the NYT somehow managed to overlook.
