Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is urging the landowner of a 14-acre urban garden to slash the $16 million sales price.
The city seized the land from owner Ralph Horowitz in the 1980s to build a trash-to-energy incinerator, but the project fizzled.
Horowitz sued to get the site back and the city eventually sold it back to him for $5 million. He later agreed to sell ten of the 14 acres to the Trust for Public Land for $16 million, but the group raised only $6 million and the purchase option expired Monday.
Villaraigosa says Horowitz should sell the property for what he bought it for.

Communism in action -- that's what happens when Dems rule.
And I am sure Villaraigosa will run for CA governor the next time around.

Good God! Prime example of communism. Owner has property. Govt seized said property. Owner sues to BUY his own property back. Govt now steps in to force owner to sell for less than FMV. Unbelievable gonads of the govt.

Why do we keep giving our land to the United Nations Environment Program?

AMEN
The price he is asking is cheap compared to commercial land in LA.
Horowitz has been jerked around by the authorities over this piece of land for years. He has paid the taxes and fought with charachters like Los Angeles' Mayor over and over again.
He deserves to get whatever price he wants for the property.
It is NOT the job of mayor of anywhere to be in the middle of this.

Let L.A. condemn it and pay fair market value, which I predict will be $16 million. Then THEY can sell it for $5 million to the nature nuts.

Villaraigosa is a prime example of the corruption that permeates the Mexican government he so yearns.
Well you turkeys in LA elected this hypocrite so quit griping when he bends over backwards to please the extremist Hispanics in the community.
Looks like the mayor got the gold mine and the people got the shaft.

Liberals / Democrats / Socialists believe in all kinds of rights, rights that nobody's ever had or ever even heard of. Except the right to acquire wealth and possess property. Anyone who does that is greedy and evil.

I wouldn't know, but the city should have no say in it. They already ripped the guy off once. To hell with the leaches that think it's their property.
