Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. "Wear Red" Friday

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. —Psalm 96:2

Tiger Woods has won many dramatic tournament victories during his professional golf career. But one of his greatest achievements went virtually unnoticed because it unfolded slowly over 7 years. During that period, Tiger qualified in 142 consecutive tournaments—more than any other player in the history of US professional golf. It speaks to the power of his commitment and consistency, and to his conviction never to give up.

Recently I was challenged by a friend’s statement of his growing desire to follow the Lord with “daily rather than dramatic devotion.” Is that how it is in my life of faith in Jesus Christ? Am I consistent or erratic? Am I dependable or unreliable?

There are great spiritual events in our lives, but our daily choices to obey Christ best express our ongoing love for Him. Psalm 96, a ringing call to witness and praise, says: “Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples” (vv.2-3).

When we are consistently devoted to the Lord, we will proclaim His love and power day after day. Over time, a life of daily loyalty will become a magnificent testimony to our Savior. —David C. McCasland

Morning Billie, All.. big storms came thru last PM.. power out for several hours. Much damage with trees/limbs down.

wearing red/black bathing suit now actually for yard work/plant garden day between/during the raindrops

Hope all have a great weekend ahead. I will be doing graves tomorrow. Over the years we have had family groups of up to a dozen go to the three cemeteries & clean up graves, put flowers on etc. This year it is down to one. All other past "helpers" are infirm/old. The other "younger" ones don't seem to care or think this is impt.

Thank you vets who have gone to your reward. We DO REMEMBER YOU & are grateful for this holiday weekend to memorialize you!

Hi sweetie! How are you doing? I know you are very busy with things in your life. HOpe you are feeling well.. I am off shortly to attack my yard! (it is heavy drizzle.. not mist & not full blown rain).. but enough is falling now & will continue to fall all day.

Will bike later with pooches on towpath. NO SANE PEOPLE will be out there & so I should be able to let them run off leash without bothering others or getting the "nice" rangers to get me a ticket

I hope you are doing well. Yes, busy for certain. I want my life back. LOL Thanks. I'm feeling better than I have in a very long time. :)

You have fun day planned today. I know what you mean about sane people. There will be a lot insane vacationers here within the next 24 hours. I'll hear police sirens all weekend long. I have to go out get what we need and then I will stay home for the next 3 days. ;)
