Recalls on all Senators who voted for Immigration bill
5/26/06 | ChiefJayStrongbow99

We need to start the recall process on the Senators that are not up for re-election that voted for this bill. Does anybody know the steps needed to get a recall vote listed on a state ballot for November? I would especially like to target Specter (PA) (for sponsoring the bill.

These are not federal officials, they are elected legislators and as such should be able to be re-called.

I don't know where you got this vote list but that was for another deal not the final because Kay Bailey voted NO!

Yes repeal the 17th. This is one thing we can do and start now. Any constitutional scholar know how to start this?

He put up a wrong list -- Graham voted for and Kay Bailey against. What I would like to know is why? The final list is on the thread about the debate.

Lets change the name of the Bill to: THE NO ILLEGAL LEFT BEHIND Bill

I did some google searches this morning to find out more about what “in-state tuition” is I found the following CNN article from 2003. And this Senate Bill has this slipped in that will make in-state tuition for illegals a law Nation Wide?

This Bill should have a name change. I suggest the NO ILLEGAL LEFT BEHIND. What it boils down to is more lavish social spending and racial preferences for illegal immigrants and their children for college. Privileges your American children can’t get. More in-state tuition for illegal immigrants

Oregon may be about to join a growing number of states that are offering cheaper, in-state college tuition rates to illegal immigrants in a move supporters say will help them become productive, taxpaying members of society. Opponents say the idea will only encourage illegal immigration. (excerpt)

I'll keep my two Senators thanks. Cornyn and Hutchinson both voted against it. They know the score. Texas may well go bankrupt should Fox/Jorge/Kennedy/McCain get their way

Bankrupt, maybe.

But a personal income tax, certainly!

When you post something like this, you should have your facts straight. Whatever gave you the idea you could have a national recall election? Then you messed up who voted what between Graham and Kay Bailey. What gives? Trying to stir the pot even more?

as part of any recall process, it'd be good to have a truly viable alternative ready to run in his/her place. That will most likely play out in the normal primary course of elections.

I can't think of a Senator ever being recalled, and probably as it's looked into, it'll turn out the can only lose their seats by a vote of .... the Senate!

Lieberman is a great disappointment. It is a clear step to the total destruction of this country.

I think your list is wrong with respect to Frist. He voted "yes" on final passage after making an unctuous speech.

Let's ask him.

WHY did you post a wrong list???

...very misleading and unsettling.

Sam, please allow me to include Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in that list. He is one of the usual suspects. BTW, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) voted "nay".

The only reason I knew for sure it was wrong was last night I went on the Senate site and found eight states that both Senators had voted no: Alabama, Georgis, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.

Then to see Graham voting NO on his list made me really start to wonder about his agenda.

I thought so...I don't know why that other list was posted. Very confusing to the elder mind.

Do we give him the benefit of doubt?....too quick to post, not checking facts.

..Or, because of the inflammatory nature of the thread, assume he has an agenda?

And he very well may.

But a personal income tax, certainly!

Thems fightin' words. I left MN because of the income tax, and other leftist asshattery. Now I'm finding myself contemplating leaving Texas for the same reasons.

I was responding to post #8 which appeared to be a list of how each senator voted. It showed Shelby voting Yea and Sessions voting Nay. Post #8 has been removed by the moderator...anyone know why?

There is no recall procedure in Pennsylvania. As much as we'd like to see Arlen go, he is there until he loses an election, retires, is convicted of a crime, or dies.

The list is also wrong with respect to Lindsey Graham. He not only voted in favor of final passage but was also one of the most vocal (along with Kennedy and McCain) in support of the bill's worst features, which include:

The bill legally transfers 10 percent of Mexico's population to the United States.

The bill inserts this population into our Social Security System at the very time the system is expected to go bankrupt.

The bill requires "consultation" with the Mexican government before we can exercise sovereignty over our border.

And there is more. Senator Sessions called the whole thing shameful.
