Recalls on all Senators who voted for Immigration bill
5/26/06 | ChiefJayStrongbow99

We need to start the recall process on the Senators that are not up for re-election that voted for this bill. Does anybody know the steps needed to get a recall vote listed on a state ballot for November? I would especially like to target Specter (PA) (for sponsoring the bill.

We need to repeal the 17th Amendment. Let the states go back to selecting Senators to represent them.

Unfortunately, there are no provisions for recalling members of the Senate or House (or President for that matter). The Constitution grants each of these offices a particular term in office and details how they may be removed, and recall isn't one of the ways. Recent attempts to impose state-level controls on federal offices, such as term limits, have been struck down by the Supreme Court. Short of a Constitutional amendment or getting the Supreme Court to recognize some new right in the "emanations from the "penumbra" of the Constitution, there's no way to recall.

Sounds good to me. Entirely too much "direct democracy" for the good of our Republic. States are no longer represented as individual entities. This is not a good thing.

I'll sign it. I held my nose and voted for Specter in the last election and I wish I could take it back.

My Senator....Ken Salazer...didn't even vote..what a chicken.....incredible..I can't believe it...he said he had to go to his daughters graduation....

At least that is more palatable than one of my Senator's, Boxer .. who voted.. present.

Lookie at me says Boxer, I'm in class, I voted present.

What a brain dead moron.

I am pretty sure Shelby voted "Nay". He was on Fox this morning promoting the border security/ no amnesty side.

The only way to recall your Senator is to defeat him at the polls for reelection. There is nothing in the Constitution allowing for the removal of a sitting Senator or Congressman through recall.

Do you want them elected by the state legislators, or the people of the state? I like it by the people of the state.

I know why Rockefeller didn't vote, but does anyone know why Lott and Enzi didn't?

The average American has no clue what these slimes have done. Contact all the talk radio shows hosts and ask them to highlight what is in this pathetic bill. These un-American worthless politicians need to be voted out of office or recalled. Let them live in the mess they created. They act like they're untouchable royalty and we're their subjects. Talk about in your face!

Some person on here put up the wrong vote -- this was for a previous vote. Kay Bailey voted NO on the final bill.

The list in post#8 clearly shows Hutchison voting for it.....and Graham of SC voting against...I had heard otherwise.

What gives?
