Quote Of The Day: Al Gore Says Its OK To Lie About Global Warming Because Darn It, It's Important!
Right Wing News ^

Posted on 05/25/2006 11:11:43 AM PDT by Republican Red

"In the United States of America, unfortunately we still live in a bubble of unreality. And the Category 5 denial is an enormous obstacle to any discussion of solutions. Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis." -- Al Gore

How sad it is, though, that a former VP, a leader of his political party thinks that LYING is perfectly ok!

This country is in trouble because 50% of it voted for this boob.

"an over-representation of factual presentations"

If that's the case, then the whole Democratic Party is one big "over representation of factual presentation".

That kinda says it all about algore. If he thinks it's important (to him), it's okay to lie about it.

Hey, lay off Al you guys. It makes perfect sense -- you have to lie sometimes or else nobody will believe you.

Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations ...

That must've been the reasoning used when some magazine cover (Rolling Stone?) airbrushed his "package" back in 2000.

Libs have said before.... public hyping of an issue is not about evidence, damn it. It's about the seriousness of the charges!

I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations

Gore has lived by that philosophy throughout his entire political career, long before he started talking about global warming.

Far be it from me to defend Gore, but I think you guys are misinterpreting him. I think the phrase isn't about overstating the facts of the case, but that it's okay to beat people over the head repeatedly with the message.

I don't think so.

"Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, ..."
"Over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous ..." means giving more representation of that position than any contrasting position or giving more representation of that position than its proportion within the overall spectrum of positions would merit. He is clearly saying that it is ok to overstate the danger in order to get the audience to open up to listening to possible solutions even though they may not even be necessary.

So can we say that Al Gore "betrayed this country and played on our fears"? What a hypocritical tool.

"The context you offer only further underscores my point. Trust me, you don't want to make a lot of hay out of this. Look again at the quote: 'an over-representation of factual presentations...' He doesn't say an over-representation of the facts, or of statistics, or any such thing. The key word here is "presentations." He's talking about disproportionally talking about the the issue; not altering the content.

Baloney. The key WEASEL words are, "dangerous, solve, and "crisis." There is no dangerous crisis therefore there is nothing to solve.

Gore: ".... I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis."

Liars lie and only other liars or dupes agree with them.
