Quote Of The Day: Al Gore Says Its OK To Lie About Global Warming Because Darn It, It's Important!
Right Wing News ^
Posted on 05/25/2006 11:11:43 AM PDT by Republican Red
"In the United States of America, unfortunately we still live in a bubble of unreality. And the Category 5 denial is an enormous obstacle to any discussion of solutions. Nobody is interested in solutions if they don't think there's a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis." -- Al Gore

Far be it from me to defend Gore, but I think you guys are misinterpreting him. I think the phrase isn't about overstating the facts of the case, but that it's okay to beat people over the head repeatedly with the message.

Overrepresentation..........that's the operative word for polling data, exit polling data!
Just knew there had to be a word for it.

That sounds like the usual dim talking points.

Yes.
If a "lie" is promulgated in advancing communism, as you say, it is not viewed as a "lie", but as the "Marxist-Leninist truth"!
And if it's good enough for Marx, Engels and Lenin, then by gosh, it's good enough for Al!

I don't agree. The quote comes from his answer to the following question:
There's a lot of debate right now over the best way to communicate about global warming and get people motivated. Do you scare people or give them hope? What's the right mix?

Works for me.Oh, no, it won't.
It'll work for Al, but it won't work for you. After all, you're just a plebe.

When he engaged in crime, he justified that, too, by saying that "there was no controlling legal authority".

Liberals always believe its OK to lie to further their cause... because the ends justify the means therefore lying is noble....
Same thing the communists did, the nazis did, the facists did and still do...
To: Ramius
Or is it half man, half bearpig?
To: Republican Red
Hard to believe that this self admitted liar was nearly President. He should not be in any public office.

Well, that explains it then!
Creating a problem (Global Warming) to fit the solution (Al Gore's world acording to him, and how Americans are BAD consumers of Energy and producers of harmfull/hurtfull greenhouse gases).

This 'double ethical bind' we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. Hitler would have loved it.

The context you offer only further underscores my point. Trust me, you don't want to make a lot of hay out of this. Look again at the quote:
an over-representation of factual presentations...
He doesn't say an over-representation of the facts, or of statistics, or any such thing. The key word here is "presentations." He's talking about disproportionally talking about the the issue; not altering the content.
And believe me, I know what a liar he is. Let's just make sure we hammer him about actual lies. We've had enough grief from leftists who don't know what constitutes a lie.
