Black conservative leaders oppose alien 'amnesty' plan
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | May 24, 2006 | Keyonna Summers

Black leaders from across the country yesterday decried a guest-worker "amnesty" plan that would legalize millions of illegal aliens and threatened to sue the U.S. government if such legislation is passed.

----------------cut---------------------------------------------

Choose Black America is the second minority-based group created by the District-based Federation for American Immigration Reform that opposes illegal entry. FAIR last month helped create "You Don't Speak for Me," a national coalition of Hispanic Americans who oppose the idea of amnesty for illegal aliens and who spoke out against immigration rallies held recently. Leah Durant, a legal analyst for FAIR and a black activist in Virginia, said polls are beginning to show that the Hispanic and illegal alien populations are not monolithic, and that black opinions on illegal aliens aren't either. Several blacks earlier this month attended a rally held by the Minuteman Project, a watchdog group that patrols the border.

I wondered just how long it would take the Black leadership to have a fit!

"Black conservative leaders oppose alien 'amnesty' plan "

Other than the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, the other "Black Conservative leaders" [?] mentioned (Ted Hayes, Angelita Herron, Leah Durant, and Frank Morris Sr.) have been well guarded secrets. To me , at any rate.

Can you really blame the blacks? They are Americans, and we should always make certain our people are first in line for jobs.

But I'm still waiting for Jesse to speak out. Hate to say it, but he may be the only one Washington will listen to.

Blacks should be more dismayed with the leadership in this country than others. Neither party is looking out for their best interest.

Nothing, will make the blacks turn conservative faster than granting amnesty to the illegals.

They suddenly will go from being those receiving the welfare checks to those who will have to write them. Amzing how fast people can become conservative when they realise its their hard earned money thats being redistributed.

WE NEED Americans of all backgrounds to step up and be Americans first. This is a great turn of events.

Maxine Waters has spoken out. She wants the Border slammed shut and says we have "enough" guest workers here all ready, so how many more do we need?!

Good for her with this.

If you ever have any illusions that the government can fix social problems, look at DC. Then turn and run away, as fast as you can.

And it wasn't like it was their ancestor's choice to come here. Their ancestors were very instrumental in the building of this nation whether it was by choice or not.

Yes. For taking so long to finally come to their senses and
listen to the common sense of the late Barbara Jordan.
But I am happy they are now waking up and engaging in the struggle.

I was just at the article. Apparently the Times removed "Conservative" from the title.
