And so are you claiming that homosexuality is the worst of all *abominations* in the Bible? And are you claiming that there is some kind of hierarchy of sins? Are some considered by you to be no big deal and others, like homosexuality - to be so bad that there is a special commandment agsint them, for instance?
Thank you for the link. I did go there and was pleasantly surprised to see that for the most part, our liturgy is almost word for word with your Order of the Mass. I would say about 90% the same.
The sanctuary is lovely.
I think they are looking for the same liberties as everyone else has - meaning that they want the financial and legal perks that married couples get.
By the way, if the person confronted refuses to repent, they are to be put out of the church.
Actually it completely refutes your point. You tried to equate all "abominations" and I showed quite plainly that there are different words for "abomination" with different meanings, and that one of those words had different meanings depending on the context.
Do you work hard to eliminate all *abominations* or just one, and if only one, why?
It is not our responsibility to try to eliminate all abominations. It is our responsibility to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. It is our responsibility not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor to stand in the way with sinners, nor to sit in the seat of the scoffers. Therefore, if someone comes into a church and tries to force that Church to accept and condone a behavior that the Bible specifically prohibits (both in the OT and the NT), that person or group should be opposed by the Church. Perhaps you haven't noticed in all of your assertions of "hatred", but this is not a case where people are trying to criminalize homosexuality; it is a case where a group of homosexuals is trying to force acceptance of their perverse lifestyle on the Church.
I don't like to see sexuality flaunted - either heterosexual or homosexual or whatever else there may be(g). And if people *demand* acceptance of something that I don't accept - I contintue not to accpet it. Lots of people are demanding in this world and most of the time the people see through that. What I think homosexuals want is the legal and financial perks that married couples get. In other words they want the same liberties as everyone else has.
They have the same liberties that everyone else has. They just don't know the difference between liberties and perks.
Possibly in bad taste but, yes, an attempt at humor.
It doesn't strike me as funny. But I will take you at your word that it was a joke.
No one is saying you can't post on the topic. Spare me the strawman. (Although if you think this is "a public site," let me be the first to assure you, it certainly is not.)
I'm trying to ascertain why anyone should care what you think about Catholicism, given that you are NOT Catholic, and your only interest in it is to tear it down because it doesn't honor homosexual sin.
You're just another queer rights activist who is completely irrelevant to Catholicism, save for your trolling of this thread.
What other sex fetish can be identified by sash.
Perhaps they should have a leather sash for those into leather?
How about a swinger sash? That whole fidelity in marriage thing is just a "suggestion" right?
Isn't that the steps of an episcopal church in DC?
You replied: How very liberal of you to attack personally rather than deal with the content of the link.
Good grief. Is that all you got? My "rolling on the floor laughing my ass off" at Gay and Lesbian Adventist websites is not a personal attack. It is a derisive dismissal of you. Get it straight.
Are you working hard to eliminate all *abominations*? or do you focus on only one and, if so, why?
I reject the premise of your compound question. However, you do continue to amuse me.
You're bearing false witness.
"If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every part of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, then I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him. " - Martin Luther
I think it is time for the dollar bill ribbon campaign again.
Fight absurdity with absurdity.
The whole thing is really utterly ridiculous. But here we are. We can't even distinguish between male and female, let alone right and wrong. We must equate sexual unions that cannot even "unite" without the aid of a strap-on sex organ substitute with the clearly natural complementary union of male and female. It is so ridiculous we should all be laughing if the consequences were not so serious.
I don't think it is that exaggerated but yes, the Supreme Court in Lawrence ended the effort to make the sexual *act* illegal.
I live in Utah. There are a lot of homosexuals here but they are not doing the kind of open and depraved acts in public that I read about in other states. My opinion is that this is a states' issue and that if a state condones what I would not be confortable with - that I probably wouldn't want to live in that state.
*************
And yet this article addresses their desire to be accepted by the Catholic Church, an issue that has nothing to do with legal or financial "perks". What homosexuals want or don't want the state or federal governments to provide has no relevance to the Catholic Church or its teachings.
If that that were true. I would very much like to see that be the case - but I have actually read this thread and others and there is plenty of condemnation going on.
"What I think homosexuals want is the legal and financial perks that married couples get.... "
Given your statement....
Should all other abnormal sexual proclivities also be granted the same gays demand?
No I haven't but I will write down that particular name for future reference. I believe Christ Church in Plano is very conservative too. Do you know, by any chance?
Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Right, so my question is where are the threads and efforts to change the US Constitution in order to elminate all of these more serious *sins and abominations*?
Christian compassion and civil law doesn't call for that now, but people who engage in this conduct should worry about the death sentence to their souls if they don't repent.
And that is between the sinner and God, isn't it?
