And there are multiple words translated "abomination" that have different meanings and varying degrees to which something is deemed "detestable". Why do you imply that they are all equal?

And so are you claiming that homosexuality is the worst of all *abominations* in the Bible? And are you claiming that there is some kind of hierarchy of sins? Are some considered by you to be no big deal and others, like homosexuality - to be so bad that there is a special commandment agsint them, for instance?

No, I am saying that the word "abomination" has different meaning, depending on the context and on the original word used. In some cases, it means vile and wicked, and in other cases it means ceremonially unclean, and in other cases it means idolatry (which God condemns very strongly).

As to ceremonially unclean references, when Jesus was crucified he satisfied all the purification aspects of the law. The veil of the Holy of Holies was torn, and we now were given access to God without having to go through a priest. To demonstrate this, God commanded Peter to rise up, kill and eat when shown several animals that were ceremonially unclean (abominations as you like to call them) according to the dietary and ceremonial law of the OT. Peter objected, saying the animals were unclean. God rebuked him and said "What I have now called clean, do not call unclean." Since Jesus personified every sacrificial element within the law, He satisfied all of the purification requirements of the law and we are no longer bound by the ceremonial purification and dietary rituals of the OT law.

At no time did God command Peter or anyone else to rise up and go find a guy to hump. At no time did God inspire any of the apostles to instruct the church that the whole "do not commit adultery" and other commands regarding moral and honest and godly behavior had been rescinded.
