Saudi Men Who Rode School Bus Arrested (Tampa, FL)
Tampa Bay Online ^ | May 20, 2006 | Keith Morelli

Two Saudi men were arrested Friday after they boarded a school bus and rode to Wharton High School in New Tampa.

Students on the bus became alarmed, as did the bus driver, who called ahead. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies met the bus at the school and detained the men. No one was injured and nothing out of line occurred on the bus, deputies said.

Mana Saleh Almanajam, 23, who lives in Apt. 302 in The Point apartments, and Shaker Mohsen Alsidran, 20 Monticello Gardens, Apt. 304-A, each were charged with trespassing on school property. Both remained in Orient Road Jail on Friday evening. Bail for each was set at $250.

"Both defendants gave several versions of the reason they took a school bus to a high school," said Hillsborough County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway.

"They said they wanted to go to Wharton to look around, and then they said they wanted to go there to have some fun, and then they said they wanted to enroll in the English classes there," Callaway said.

"We're not sure if this was a situation of them just being new to this country, or if they were confused or what it was," Callaway said. "We were unsure as to exactly what the final reason was, but it did cause great concern for the students on the bus and for us. One of the guys was wearing shorts with a black trench coat."

While on the bus, the men laughed and spoke in Arabic, Callaway said.

" Bus driver should be fired."

My thoughts exactly.

Yes. I think school bus drivers in that area need some additional training.

That last photo of the Russian mom, her child murdered by Islam, always breaks my heart. Believe me, CAIR is funded by people who would do this in the US in a heartbeat. And WILL do it soon, in my opinion.

Haunting images of Beslan and I was thinking the exact, same thing. Seems like a trench coat would be a good place for hiding say - explosives or firearms. Just saying.

Somebody should be on these guys like stink on sh&^. No kidding.

"They were practicing something."

Roger that. The laughing was probably brought on by seeing how easy it was for them to get on the bus. Sounds like preparation for bus hijackings to me.

Their behavior was reminiscent of that flight to LA which had a goup of Arab musicians acting up and ignoring the flight attendants. "Innocent hijinks"

"He blamed the incident on cultural differences."

So thoughtful of the paper to give us their addresses.

Thanks for the correction. I remember when it happened, not sure why school bus drivers are not given at least basic instruction to help them avoid this type of thing.

Looks like a test run to me.

I remember a whole lot of people making fun of a lady in a Florida HoJo's restaurant who overheard ME types talking about terrorist plans. She reported it, they were arrested, and had the cover story of being "medical students" conveniently in the Bahamas, if I have the details right.

In fact, if I recall correctly, there were people on this forum who thought she was overreacting. I didn't, and still don't.

I think all of these incidents are test runs.

Two Dead in Attack on Israeli School Bus

Nahariya/Avivim School Bus Attack, 1970

On May 8, 1970 there was a brutal attack on an Israeli school bus by Palestinian terrorists who crossed the Lebanese border.

Avivim, an agricultural community established in 1963, is just metres from the border with Lebanon. Settled and built from the ground up by Moroccan immigrants, the majority of the residents belonged to one of two families; Peretz or Biton. The local council bus picked up children each morning to take them to two schools.

The terrorists knew the schedule of the bus and were able to ambush it. They fired on the bus, killing the adults instantly. The bus driver continued until he himself was shot. Then the bus crashed, injuring many of the remaining children. The attack caused the death of 9 children (aged between six and nine) and 3 adults, and left 19 others crippled for life.

The terrorists were never apprehended.

Remember, some of the hijackers apparently had no clue they were on a suicide mission

so they say. still, would letting them out on bail have been wise?

I didn't want to open this page and see that. I think the pictures ought to be linked to with a warning.

Hmm.

Not then. Simply because we didn't know what we know now. However, if we had let them out then, had a good idea of what they were up to and wanted to smoke out others (who may still be here incidentally)...Yes.

I think it is all about what we know. We know a LOT more now—no matter what the press says.

Just because the press is in the dark, doesn't mean the people that need to know are. I remember a line from a way back President Bush speech. Essentially it was, and I am paraphrasing, that this war would be fought on many many levels, some seen but most unseen.

I have never forgotten that line. The surface of the water is calm, but underneath it is very turbulent.
