A short, bald, Italian-American from New York City who is a hero, a world wide celebrity and a leader of proven ability and competence would beat your cliche against better looking lower lights. Particularly in these type of uncertain times.

If you think Gore is not a formidable candidate if he runs, it's you who can't see the obvious in politics. The body politic is more then the denizens of FR.

If Giuliani only gives illegals as much trouble as navigating NYC without receiving a traffic ticket was during his mayoralty, illegals are not getting in.

If it's Giuliani or McCain, I will join the "minority here" and the "insiffnificant (sic) group" by sitting one out. It'll be a choice between Republican slow poison or Democratic fast poison. I will not willingly take either.

Giuliani will "cut to the right" before the election, then swing left if elected.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Rudy will be the strongest candidate for the GOP, especially if the Dims nominate the Hildabeast.

He is a proven leader. He did a great job while Mayor of NYC, which makes him the equivalent of being a governor of a small state and which gives him strong administrative experience. A big plus.

He is strong on combating terrorism and he is a believer in cutting taxes.

I personally don't care about his views on abortion.

Another plus: He will pick up a lot of votes from the "moderates".

1. How many more SCOTUS justices does Bush get to appoint? If Stevens and Ginsburg both retire in the next two years, then the next Prez is less important on the social issues.

We want originalist judges, not conservative activist judges. A person can be personally to keep abortion legal and still be an originalist when it comes to USSC decision on abortion, for example.

I think one problem is that many conservative say they want originalists, but really want conservative activists. I clearly want the former and not the latter. Conservative activist judges would suck, just in a different way, as much as liberal activist judges.

I want originalists, I just happen to think that they will protect states rights in many cases, and likely the rights of the unborn as well. Abortion is not my be all-end all issue, I am much more concerned with power-grabbing judges.

I want originalists too. I don't care what their personal politics are.

The choice reminds me of the baseball quote I read this morning by the Seattle Mariner's catcher that was asked which he liked better - his homerun or his fantastic double play catch and tag out - "If I had to choose just one, I would pick both".!

(Replace "both" with "neither" in this cae.)

What "uncertain times" are you talking about?

Gore is an irreparably damaged candidate -- not because he lost in 2000, but because of the way he lost. When even many of your supporters come away from an election convinced that you are a certifiable loony-tune, your career in politics is over.

Gore refused to run in 2004 for one very important reason -- he couldn't generate enough enthusiasm in the Democrat Party to raise enough money to run for a small-town council seat. That's not gonna change in 2008.

I agree. We need politicians and judges who are originalists.

I'm really tired of big government "conservatives".

Rudy, Pence and Newt are the only ones in the running who have the ability to articulate true conservatism.

But Rudy is the only one who can beat Hillary.

There is nothing that would ever get me to vote for McCain- ever.

I do agree with you about Rudy.

Lets list his negatives
cheated on wife
pro-abortion
pro-gay
(These 3 would take out the Christian right vote)

very anti-gun
(there go the NRA or 2nd Amendment voters

Pro-illlegal
(More vote loss)

Had cancer and pulled out of Senate race
(would definitely loss more on this)

Thanks for the ping. My vote is for Rudy! We need someone to protect this country and Rudy gets my vote over McCain anyday.

You can't possibly be serious about this.

McCain is DQed in my book. If the primary comes down to those 2, I'm voting for Giuliani.

If it comes down to these two, I may just opt out.

I think Rudy comes across as more stable and solid while McCain seems to be, as a local pundit says, "slippery." You kind of never know with McCain. I think that's what many don't like about him.

What uncertain times? You should get out more.

Gore was a damaged candidate in 2004, and couldn't be elected dog catcher. Then.

Gore in a formidable candidate in 2008, just because of how he lost. And how George Bush won. And how George Bush Presidency is so unpopular.

Gore is the buyers remorse candidate. Gore is the nostalgic candidate. Gore is the go back and undo a wrong candidate. Gore is the bring back the good days candidate.

The worst Bush looks, the better Gore looks.

Gore is the: we detoured or were railroaded by the Court, and now back to the good ole Clinton times (no war, bull market). Minus the sex scandals.

We here know that Gore is dangerously unhinged. But we're political junkies.

We know Clinton made a mess outside of his personal problems. But we're political junkies.

In 2008, as the candidate that not only was wronged, but that the wrong brought about the Bush mess (public perception), to set things back right, Gore can easily win.

Particularly against any Republican put up except for McCain and Giulinai.

I doubt it will be Gore anyway.

Hillary with one hand filled with cash the other filled with IOU's and Bill working the phones ....looks tough to beat.

Probably. But, jumping to a huge presumption, just maybe the Democrats are not completely out of their minds.

Gore makes the perfect substitute.

And just maybe, to ease the way, an elected female VP first. Gore/Hillary.

You get nostalgia. You get the Clinton era. You get anti war. You get global warming. You get Hillary. It may look attractive to Democrats.

However, he is a proven leader, deadly serious on the WOT, and doesn't have McCain's toxic prima donna personality.

Here's the thing about Rudy: How many politicians run for office saying they will do the impossible, and then do it?

You said "As Least Rudy G. is a sincere Catholic."

From outward appearances Guiliani is not a sincere Catholic.

- Cheated on his wife, divorced her, and married his mistress

- Pro-homosexual marriage

- Supported 100% by every radical abortion lobby and organization.

I would have a better opinion of him if he'd just leave the Church since, from outward appearances, he is not interested in living a moral life as the Church defines it. It's a scandal that people can consider him a sincere Catholic.
