[Robertson] said the revelations came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January... During Wednesday's broadcast, he added, "there well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest."

Pat, Pat, Pat. Saying something like that makes you not look very bright. I'll retract that if the "revelation" comes true.

[Not a 'little voice', dude. I've heard it. I'm not a nutcase, either.]

If you have to tell people you are not a "nutcase", you just might want to get a second opinion.

Very cute, but since most here don't know me personally, a perfectly reasonable statement to add.

...and yes, I am quite sane.

I also enjoyed his comments about no evidence for any global warming contributing to the increased numbers of canes and more likely an increase in ocean salinity levels.

He also stated that this pattern has happened before, somewhere in the 1930-40's, IIRC. Sort of pops the balloon of the global warming casuses bad hurricanes hystericals.

Pat would tell you that's because you don't put enough in the coercion plate.

I wondered when someone would pick up on the similarities of Pat and Al. They both shake people down with apocalyptic tales of doom to fill their coercion plates.

Can you imagine the Pope saying anything like this from the balcony of St. Peter's? LOL

"Word of knowledge" is an extremely dangerous sport. St. John of the Cross, a very very holy saint, once said that those who seek "messages" from God commit a grave offense for wishing to transcend the boundaries the Creator set in place when it comes to communicating with Him. Not that God can't choose to talk to whomever HE wishes, but people like Robertson who are seeking oracles have no idea who or what is responding to their request...

Re: "If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8."

When God Almighty, the Creator of heaven & earth decides to give someone a message, the hearer knows for sure he is being spoken to! God is not limited by someone's ability to "tune in". The fact that Robertson just thinks he heard God telling him something is evidence that God has not spoken to him.

I have two friends who have experienced miraculous healings after 'claiming' a Word of Knowledge given by Pat Robertson on the 700 Club.

Pat received the Word of Knowledge through the power of the Holy Spirit. It was up to my friends to believe and receive the healings.

TV PREACHER PAT ROBERTSON WARNS:

Rainbow flags may bring Hurricanes, terrorist bombs, earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor.

This was in 1998, Still wacky I see.

Perhaps these are "Smart Storms" that only target Gays, Muslims, Catholics, Jews and anyone who has not sent Five Hundred Bucks to the 700 Club...

...and this guy ran for president once and was the favorite of many on this board! Yet, SANE people who run and differ a bit with the Christian conservative line, are labeled RINOs!

I don't consdier it folly that 100's of thousands, probably millions of evangelical Christians got much more politically informed and active as a result of his running.

I read the article, and frankly don't see anything wrong with what Pat said.

He said that he has the sense from God that there will indeed be bad weather on the East Coast.

Is there anything specifically that's wrong with what he said? Or are we all just eager to jump on the "hate-the-Christian-leader" bandwagon? Are those who pray to the Lord and hear from him necessarily mentally instable?

I think you are exceedingly correct.

But, Pat is a favorite whipping post around here. And, he does seem to say some unnecessarily provocative things at inopportune times. But then, who am I to say anything about that! LOL. Besides, God uses all kinds of 'fools for Jesus' in His mysterious ways. Who knows how many may be provoked to thought and even Salvation because of arguments about what Pat says.

Bill Clinton would make a great preacher
- - -

If one were talking about fleshly people handling skills--that would be correct. Few are as effectively glib and smooth in terms of manipulating a group than Billdo.

Anointing would be a whole different thing entirely. Though I hear he likes to . . . anoint . . . interns. As I understand it, that's somehow involved in the root meanings of the word. Sigh.
