A republican senator proposed a bill that will prohibit the granting of legal status, or adjustment of current status, to any individual who enters or entered the United States in violation of Federal law unless the border security measures are put up front. I9n other words: secure the borders first! The bill failed passage in a 55-40 vote. The Republicans that voted against this measure along side 36 Democrats and one Independent are as follows: Bennett (UT) Brownback (R-KS), Chafee (RI), Coleman (MN), Collins (ME), Craig (ID), DeWine (OH), Graham (SC), Hagel (NE), Lugar (IN), Martinez (FL), Murkowski (AK), Shelby (AL), Snow (ME),Specter (PA), Stevens (AK), Voinovich (OH), Warner (VA)

Instead of attacking only Bush for his moderate speech, the Conservative base should vote-out of office and attack these Republicans who block any progress in the Senate.

They both want the same thing, so your distinction is rather puzzling.

With the low support the Rs have, it is looking like there will be significant turnover this fall.

Let's make it an R turnover, tho -- from a Liberal R congress to a Conservative R congress.

Nationalize the election. Make it a referendum on this issue.

I voted against DeWanker in the primary and he won overwhelmingly.

Now he is up against a Leftist 'Rat named Sherrod Brown who is on another planet with Sheila Jackson-Lee.

At least Ohio didn't go for Kerry in 2004.

At this point what's the difference if the democrats win back the Senate. Republicans vote like them any way. We would basically get the same result. Two things:

1. Lincoln Chafee, Mike Dewine, Voinavich, Collins, Snow and Specter are A holes

2. Hillary talks tough on immigration but her votes tell the real story. Republicans better exploit her vote in this

Maybe this was the problem. It was added as an amendment to a non-immigration bill.

I may have voted against this simply that it was an unrelated rider that should be a bill on it's own. Adding it as an amendment means it could have been killed without debate if the parent bill was killed..

CNN has a poll just up, and the results are staggeringly in the president's favor. 79 percent of those who watched had a very favorable or favorable view of the speech, and those who support the president's policies rose in number from 42 to 67 percent.
