I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
"I couldn't belive Dingy Harry having the ba!!$ to stand up and say every time one of us stays in a hotel we should thank an illegal immigrant... did he lose what brain cells he has left last summer when he had his stroke?"
Harry is a nasty piece of work, no brain cells there just spit.
I swear it wasn't me.
You are the voice of reason on this thread.
Correct. Take away the incentive for the illegals to come and solve the problem. We don't need to pass new laws, just enforce the current laws to the max. However, we have an immediate problem with border crossings that does need intervention.
I would say (although I do not know) 40% representing conservative votes would include RINO's too. I haven't been able to really figure out what a RINO is? Are they just less conservative? Meaning they believe in some government involvement. Business sure likes government when it suits their needs. Do we call these folks RINOs? I guess I haven't figured it out yet. I think it is only ideology anyway. We don't live in that kind of world.
Well, here's what I think. First, you're an insulting agitprop who tried to raise a strawman, switching my comment of rational approach to your preferred strawman of 'comprehensive approach'. Second, you tried to misdirect readers by inviting them to equate the idiocy of the Senate approach, spouting endless 'amendments' to be debated, with what the president did say in his speech. His speech is an approach; the Senate methodology is a gordian knot, or gordian 'not' if you prefer. Now go away and play with your agitprop friends somewhere else other than FR.
From what I can see between last night and today, the President's speech went over like a lead balloon with conservatives.
I see no reason to be any less pissed off than I was before the speech.
I know and talk with quite a few conservatives. Since the President's speech last night, I have spoken with, or been contacted by, somewhat more than half of them. I intend to touch base with all of them. So far, I have yet to find a single one of them who is not more angry after the speech than before.
The comments are quite damning.
A day late and a year over. Your mother is ONLY 72 (until July 19, 2006) :)
My husband made the same mistake--he got an earful!! 72 is great--I highly recommend it!!! Any age we are on the right side of the grass is great.
This OBL voted for GOVERNOR LYNN SWANN today; hope you did too (unless you aren't a PA voter).
OK, it was late and I subtracted 1933 from 2006. My bad.
My birthday card last year gives you a Get Out of Jail Free card for life! Actually sometimes I'm not quite sure myself! :)
"Anchor babies" is the extremely common practice of Mexican women getting across the border, even within minutes of giving birth, in order that their baby will be a U.S. citizen and will be supported by American tax payer money for the rest of his or her life. The 14th Amendment was originally intended to designate citizenship to freed slaves. It has been interpretted, probably erroneously, to mean that anyone born on U.S. soil is automatically a citizen.
Buenos dias, senor. How's it going in the valley?
I am thinking more along the lines of selling one's birthright for a mess of pottage ...
You're like the guy in the office that always tries to score browny points by carbon copying your emails to the boss when they have your kiss-a$$ one-liners in them. By the way, no I haven't seen the post, dork.
Dane, you're the only one focused on ethnicity and race. The original poster said nothing about race. He specifically spoke of illegal aliens. Why do you continue to inject false allegations of ethnic "animus" (or whatever bullcrap word you're using anymore) when anyone complains about illegal aliens? Why don't you do something constructive to contribute to the debate instead of running around Free Republic throwing the race card out in every other post you make? You spend half your time attacking conservatives and calling the racists. The other half of your time you spend making false accusations and smears against rock solid Conservative Republican Tom Tancredo who has earned a 100% Best and Brightest rating from the American Conservative Union.
Who's side are you on?
So, you're pissed off.
Bottom line: do you vote for the Republicans in 2006, or stay home, or vote third party?
What are you going to DO in November?
Your answer, and that of millions of other Border Conservatives, determines the future of the Republic.

I didn't say it was impossible, I said it's not going to happen.
No President is going to deport of millions of people.
