I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
The President did a decent job and I support his choice to have the guard help out with the border.
But...
It still sounds like amnesty to me.
LOL! I hope you are kidding.
Would you guys for God's sake go read the demographic/age breakdown of the US Census.
There Are Not Enough Americans Of Working Age For An Economy This Large. The ageing of the population has consequences and this is one of them. It's not "jobs Americans won't do". It's "there aren't enough Americans of the right age to do the jobs".
Foreign workers have got to be managed one helluva lot better than they have been, but the nation's economy cannot survive a reduction in their numbers to zero.
This is a very good speech. The door needs to close. Period. Aspiring Americans have to toe the legal line, and then get to work. Crack down on legal enforcement, but if you try to outlaw all foreign manual work workers, the economy at its current size simply cannot tolerate that.
Now if you'd like to see a Depression magnitude reduction in the economy's size, maybe by 50% with your mother on the street selling apples like in 1930, then go ahead and reduce foreign worker count to zero.
Everytime this piece of mental confusion gets re-uttered the 12 million illegal aliens already here grow bolder and more confident, and the 20 million that are thinking about coming across the border squeal with delight.
Until we try, we don't what we can do. Employing a variety of measures we can likely get rid of at least 80 percent of the problem.
I do too. Of course it is much to reasonable for many here.
Well, look at it this way. The President must govern a country...I thought his tone expressed conservative ideals and met with the idea that politics is the art of the possible. THIS IS GREAT INCREMENTALISM AND HE SHOULD BE APPLAUDED...
I think he only repeated what he has said in the past but in one place now so no one can claim ignorance. And I am okay with the guestworker program and the requirement for them to learn english, and go thru steps to citozenship. This "Bush is for amnesty" crap it tiresome.
And he didnt address the Natl Guard being deployed but pointed out to Congress they need to act. And that will make provisions for the border.
It's a fantastic speech. W is the man.
Thanks. I missed it.
Gop has lost me......this is supposed to be our guy and he is screwing us. All in the name of keeping wages down for the political donor/employer class.
up is down
freedom is slavery
day is night
criminals are immagrants......
Sheesh
Roger Hedgecock now on kogo.com commenting on Bush speech.
It's the free market. Illegal immigration screws it up.
Sad attempt to justify criminal activity. Some people value principle and truth more than money.
Lou Dobbs is coming up next on CNN. I can't wait to hear his analysis... it should be interesting to say the least.
>>>Man, Most of you are freaking crazy, If he comes down too hard like lots of you here want say hello to Hillary in 2008!!<<<
Somehow I don't think he would be disappointed to see his honorary sister-in-law in that office.
He knows good and well what his program will cause.
Pay your debt to society?
Are these illegals going to get the right to vote?
We do not allow convicted felons to get a right to vote.
What planet is he from?
Thank you Bar, for that glorious statement.
