I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

WTF are you talking about? Reading your somewhat convoluted post, I believe where on the same side. Although I could be mistaken.
I happen to support HR4437. I DO NOT support the McKennedy Senate bill, or anything else for that matter.
Because so many unvaccinated illegal aliens are in our country spreading hepatitis?
What?
Reagan rewarded those who were employed with a job and green card.
Bush is rewarding those who are employed with a job and a trip to the back of the quota line waiting for a green card.
To say that what Reagan did was a lower level of amnesty is to twist what is clear and straight.
Same here... it's like nobody hear here knows how to speak speek English! </sic></sarc>
And how many people are actually trying to get INTO India and Morocco? I rest my case.
Richardson vs. Allen, eh?
That's a tough race to call.
Richardson's got the edge in charisma in that match-up.
I know for a fact illegals are keeping wages down. If workers from other countries were not a financial savings then I am sure the illegals who do have jobs Americans want would no longer have any advantage. That is why employer sanctions have to be a big part of any solution.
I really do think there is a shortage of workers in some areas of the country- especially in jobs that are temporary. I didn't hear anything from the President that suggested worker permits would be limited to a certain number or type of job though.
"but I think Andy Devine and the others were copying Froggies's original schtick later in the '50s TV era."
Regarding Andy Devine:
Then he took over for Smilin' Ed and was the star of "Andy's Gang." Good-natured Andy didn't seem to mind Froggy's stunts. He'd end up laughing and saying, "You little rascal!" And Froggy answered: "You great big square!"
Through the 50's and 60's Andy enjoyed summer theater work and played "Captain Andy" in many productions of "Show Boat." His last major TV role was playing Hap Gorman on "Flipper." As he got older, Andy became more active in politics and social causes, joining the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of Orange County and joining the committee to elect Ronald Reagan governor of California.
Then let's leave the borders open for more illegals so we'll have plenty of ghettos.

Always?
"Read my lips: no new taxes."
I think that this is another moment like that.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.
It is O.K. with me for the anchor babys and one parent to remain - under current law the "anchor baby" is a citizen - as long as the other parent returns to the "home country" and gets in line like everyone else.
It will take no more time, and no less time, than anyone else who is presently overseas and seeking to immigrate.
Meanwhile, the other parent here will remain illegal, until the first returning parent's legal immigration is secured and they can apply to sponsor the parent who remained.
You are the man..I like the details.
You maybe right with the WOT and Iraq..it may be like that for a while.
No. The president is not putting them on the green card-to-citizenship line.
Bushs attempt to get himself out of the toilet-poll is to put America in the toilet with this laughable plan. The only thing more laughable than Bush tonight is the Viva Bushies who think this half-hearted con will turn things around. Bush again put another dent in the 65 Lincoln Towncar of the Republican Party, but what else is new? Its now driving right down into the desert, and its got suicide doors, and now one of the doors is unhinged. The Viva Bushies can drink the Bush Root Beer and go on another pray at Bush head-trip all they want, in the next few days reality will set in, that Bush did the stupid buffalo again. Buffalo Bush. Root Beer.
Anyway, just tune into the radio tomorrow, you will hear the real tune. Listen to your fellow Americans the tune you going to hear, well it wont be the Viva Bushies out-of-tune party-whistles that troll some forums to pounce on anyone who isnt a pin-up groupie of Bush Mod.
Bush Root Beer. Its the real thing.
Right.
For what disease, Herr Mengele?

No mixed signals. But I am a realist. What I would do if I was in charge and what I know is feasable and realistically possible are two different things. If I had it in my power I'd deport every stinking illegal tomorrow, and tell Americans to expect a 10% or so spike in some retail and produce items to compensate for higher wages required for non-illegal labor. I'd also put up a wall. A tall thick hard one, with barbed wire, and on our side of that, cameras, dogs, and large muscular uniformed Americans with large heavy guns that make very loud unpleasent sounds when fired. But I'm not in charge and even if I was I couldn't do all that in a day or a month or a year. Maybe ten years IF there wasn't an opposition party and RINOS that would oppose it. So I take what I can get, and what Bush said tonight is a lot better than what he's said about the border the past few years. So again, I say what I want to happen and what I know is possuble are not compatable. Doesn't mean I can't continue wanting it. It just means it won't happen. But I sure as heck know the democrats won't ever do it, and the Republicans are likely to hit closer to the mark than the libs ever will, so I vote Republican. In the mean time, if I had one wish, this would all be beside the point because there would be no problem. That clear up any perceived mixed signals? :)
