I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
I haven't looked at demographics, but I have been wondering if there are enough Americans to fill all the jobs; if that is the case I wish he would explain it that way- the way he says it now makes me want to throw rotten eggs at him and I still support him, just don't agree with parts of his plan about the border and illegals. His jobs Americans won't or aren't doing wording is an insult to Americans who have and are doing those jobs every day. I wish someone would explain that to him.
I believe the employer has to knowingly accept false ID for it to be a crime.
A large majority can't spell or read their native language, how are we to expect them to learn English?
Hope you are right!
The balkanization of america is not a "pet issue". If the illegal immigration is not stopped then none of the other issues will matter as we won't be country any more.
"Good summation. Bush simply refuses to budge on this issue."
And therefore he will lose Congress, be impeached, and lose Iraq when Congress cuts funding, I believe.
I don't WANT that, but I think the only way that can be avoided is either for the Senate to cave into the House in the reconciliation committee talks and not include amnesty but make the fence more robust (and Bush not veto it)...which is highly unlikely...or for currently incandescent BorderBots to cool off over the next 6 months and grimly go to the polls to maintain Republicans in control because of other issues like Iraq.
And I don't personally think that enough BorderBots are going to change their mind on the issue and back down, especially since the flood coming across the border and the associated problems are not going to stop between now and then.
I think the President euchered his own party tonight, and that the damage is probably unrecoverable.
It's too bad.
Maybe I should stop posting about this now, because it sounds like I am glad about it. Truth is, I think it's an unmitigated political catastrophe.
Good night.
What WOT? (sorry Pissant. Just me being a smart alec again).
Tancredo and King were on O'Reilly and while they didn't dis the speech, both said it was not the approach everyone wanted. Both said secure the borders first.
Is that legal?
Sounds vaguely doity, doesn't it. LOL. Unsure to legality, but if it was good enough for Groucho Marx, it's good enough for me.
People would have to be good swimmers.
Water's easier to patrol.
I think you are way wrong about the jews killed in the Holocaust. A jew was a jew to the Nazis...
Unless you're a previously banned poster which seems fairly probable, I think I'm a better observer of what has happened at FR over the years than you.
The list of posters here who on post on immigration threads is huge. They don't seem to care about anything else.
You may have mulitiple issues.
The problem has tripled under the Bush Admin.
Yes, but we can support our president against his enemies in a time of war. Always. The weak kneed need to join the traitorous scum or stop calling themselves Republican, Conservatives, or even Americans.
Bill Clinton didn't call his tax increase "wealth redistribution" either - he called it "investing in America".
Yes. That should be your tagline.
"Doity" ?
?
It's not in the dictionary.
Help.
