BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy. Stand Up For America ! |

Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border (with Mexican labor)
take the dirt and raise the levies in New Orleans,
then put all those wayward Florida alligators into the border moat!

White House compares illegal immigration to speeding

Bill Sammon, The Examiner
May 26, 2006 5:13 PM (28 mins ago)
WASHINGTON - The White House on Friday said a Senate bill that would grant legal status to illegal immigrants is analogous to a traffic law that allows a speeder to pay a fine and continue driving.
"If you had a traffic ticket and you paid it, you're not forever a speeder, are you?" White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said in response to questions from The Examiner.

L.A. Resurrects Office to Aid Illegal Aliens
Los Angeles County continues to roll out the welcome mat for illegal aliens. As I reported a few weeks back, Judicial Watch sued the Los Angeles Police Department over a policy that prevents police officers from inquiring about an individuals immigration status and from cooperating with federal immigration officials.

Now, the Los Angeles Daily News and other news outlets reporting that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has decided to breathe new life into an office designed to help immigrants take advantage of social services at taxpayers expense and participate in civic life. (The Office of Immigrant Affairs was first established in 2004 with $125,000 in federal funds, but was left out of the budget in 2005.)
http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_3857850
As I told the Daily News in an interview earlier this week, much like the day laborer sites cropping up all over the country, the office makes no distinction between helping illegal and legal immigrants. Though the details are not in yet, you can bet that any government office that uses taxpayer resources for illegal aliens and does nothing to enforce our nations immigration laws is likely to be on the wrong side of the law.
The Mayors decision to establish this assistance program for illegals comes at a time when the U.S. Senate is preparing to vote on an amnesty program for illegal aliens. How can politicians not see the connection between providing amnesty, social services, sanctuary policies and other incentive programs for illegal aliens, and the mass infusion of illegals? I believe they can see it. They just choose to ignore it so they can continue to court the flood of new voters streaming across the border.
The American people have spoken loud and clear on the issue of illegal immigration. The vast majority want our elected officials to strengthen and enforce our nations immigration laws. Thats what Judicial Watch is trying to do.

By the way, while Im on the subject of illegal immigration, a video transcript of Judicial Watchs latest educational panel, New Fronts in the Illegal Immigration Debate is now available on our Internet site. Here is the link.

Foreign Interests to Bankroll Hillarys Campaign?
The conservative newspaper Human Events reported recently that former President Bill Clinton has earned more than $16 million in honoraria from foreign interests, raking in money that could later be used to help finance the expected presidential campaign of his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY).
http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=14601
Hillary Clintons 2004 Senate financial disclosure report shows the Clintons have joint interests in two separate investment accounts worth between $10 million and $50 million. Presumably, Senator Clinton could leverage these assets just as Senator John Kerry leveraged Theresa Heinz Kerrys personal assets to give his 2004 presidential bid a much-needed financial boost. (Judicial Watch filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission over the illegal campaign contribution, prompting an investigation.) One campaign finance expert told Human Events Clinton would, indeed, be entitled to at least half of the Clintons joint assets.
They now treat that [joint investment accounts] as joint property and the FEC would contend that 50% is hers, said Cleta Mitchell, a partner on the Foley & Lardner law firm.
Clinton earned a total $22 million for speeches given between 2001 and 2004. The majority $16.04 million came from foreign interests, including: The Australian Council for the Peaceful Reunification of China (a pro-Communist Chinese front group), and the Dabbagh Group, a Saudi financial services, agricultural products, energy services and real estate conglomerate.
Judicial Watch will be monitoring this issue as part of its Hillary Watch 06 program, which closely monitors the Hillary Clintons run for reelection to the Senate.

"EARNING" CITIZENSHIP
By Michelle Malkin · May 26, 2006 05:20 PM
Illegal immigrants hop the border fences and head for the storm drains on their "path to citizenship:"
Mark Steyn is not clapping:
Aside from the entitlement explosion and the national security issues, this bill is a cynical corruption of the integrity of US sovereignty and citizenship. My wife and the kids had their Green Cards stolen the other day. Cost of replacement of legal permanent resident cards: $1,040. Fine for 20 years of law-breaking within the United States: $2,000, less Social Security and EITC entitlements. Hmm. I told the missus to hold off filling in the form for the replacement card. Having been rendered inadvertently undocumented, she may at last be in the winning category.
Undocumented Status for All! [Mark Steyn]

In California, Fox Gets Warm Embrace and a Cold Shoulder
By JOHN M. BRODER
Published: May 26, 2006
(excerpts)
"SACRAMENTO, May 25 In an echo of the debate on immigration under way in Washington, the California Legislature gave visiting President Vicente Fox of Mexico a two-edged welcome on Thursday.
Democratic and Latino members, including the Assembly speaker, Fabian Núñez, embraced Mr. Fox, while some Republicans boycotted his evening address to a joint session of the Legislature. Other Republicans attended the speech, but wore yellow buttons reading "No más!" to protest Mr. Fox's support for liberalizing American policies on immigration. ...."
"Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, Republican of Orange County, refused to attend Mr. Fox's speech because, he said in an interview, a foreign leader has no right to come to the United States to lobby openly on a piece of domestic legislation.
"I do not at all appreciate a foreign head of state telling my nation how to deal with its own sovereignty and the issue of immigration," said Mr. DeVore, an aerospace executive and a lieutenant colonel in the California Army National Guard. "
