Yeah smoke and mirrors, because he can say whatever he wants and never do it. Worse yet he can put them there for a few weeks and then recall them once he gets an amnesty laden piece of legislation pushed through. This administration has no credibility on the issue of illegals and enforcing the law.
Until a permanent solution, the wall, is put in place anything they do is something that can be undone with a pen stroke.

O'Reilly is going to be ecstatic tonight. He's been calling for this for years.

Aiming in which direction, though?

Good post, dirt.
If true, this is good news.

Bush's poll numbers will plummet after this. You can't talk about putting troops on the border and amnesty/guest worker/path to citizenship (whatever) at the same time, and he will.
This is a ploy to push his guest worker agenda, no less, no more.
I don't believe the American public will fall for it this time. The polls show we want the illegals here deported. He won't address that for sure.

Unless a fence is built, that would be a permanent deployment, right? As soon as there is a budget squeeze the first thing to be cut in DOD will be the resources for the NG on the border.
Then we will be back where we started, no fence and no security.
But taking steps toward putting the NG on the border will mollify people like O'Reilly and enough conservatives to get the Republican leadership past the next election, then it will be back to business as usual.
BUILD THE FENCE!
To: Red Badger
"Take the captured illegals, and sentence THEM to build the fence!..............." There was a Sherrif in Arizona that intends to do just that!

Will they be watching for illegals or Minuteman patrols? Have to say, GSW, that's pretty funny.

This administration has no credibility on the issue of illegals and enforcing the law. It's got more credibility on this issue than any administration in recent memory. But it doesn't stop people like you from hyperventilating.

Under the Civil War-era Posse Comitatus Act, federal troops are prohibited from performing law enforcement actions, such as making arrests, seizing property or searching people. 1. People should read citizens
2.Posse Comitatus Act does not apply to Illegal Aliens
3. I think the military can enforce border restrictions

Worse yet he can put them there for a few weeks and then recall them once he gets an amnesty laden piece of legislation pushed through. If this ultimately turns out to be a ruse to get amnesty pushed through, I'll be beyond pissed. The guest-worker crap really needs to be taken off the table for a while.

"If Bush is really taking this step to secure our border that's a huge advance."
Yes it is, it took a fire storm of critizm, but I don't care. I will get back on the reservation if Bush is going beyond symbolism and taking real action to secure our southern border.

Considering the fact that Mexicans seeking a better life aren't the only people crossing that border, the Guard darn well better be armed.
