Thinking of Throwing a Tantrum in November?
Shameless Vanity | 5-11-06 | Burr5

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:25:42 PM PDT by Burr5

There has been a rising tide of opinion expressed these last few days on Talk Radio regarding the impulse to vote against Republicans in the upcoming congressional election in order to punish them for their whorish pandering to illegal aliens, their fiscal irresponsibility, and their general disregard of the demands of the conservative base. I have heard echoes of this on Rush Limbaugh, Mike Gallagher, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Rielly.

We should be worried about this attitude. Especially those of us who remember 1992. In George H.W. Bush's second presidential attempt, a conservative rebellion (over tax policy) and the insurgent candidacy of a purported "economic conservative" (Ross Perot), resulted in the election of the most venal, irresponsible, demogogic criminal in the history of American politics. 43% of the electorate was enough to give us eight years of Clinton.

So would sitting this one out, or voting for a Libertarian get us closer to where we want to be? Everyone realizes that a conservative temper tantrum at the polls will only serve to grant power to the Democrats. Would this "teach the Republicans a lesson"?

Perhaps. But where would we be then? We are at war. The Democrats believe the war is Bush's fault. 9-11 was an aberation. It will not happen again even if we don't listen in on Al-Qaeda's phone conversations. We will be safe if we pull out of Iraq. There will NEVER be a justification for bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. There will be no more war for oil, and yet the Caribou in ANWR will still be safe from the predations of Exxon-Mobil.

Domestically, we can expect the likes of Charles Rangle and Ron "Red" Dellums to hold the reins of power in the House of Representatives. The Bush economy will not be destroyed; things will simply become more "fair" for women and minorities.

And, of course, the great gains we are making in the corrupt, tyrannical judiciary will come to a screeching halt. If you're alright with the "right" of irresponsible young women to hire doctors to shove a metal implement into the skull of their partially born babies, and to have them crack open the skulll, vacuum out the brain matter as the tiny arms silently flap around, and then throw the corpse into the trash, then the make-up of congress may not be of much importance to you when the next confirmation hearing comes around. Chairman Leahy- Say no more.

Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team.

Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogougerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power.

It could take another forty years to get it back.

Something new. Such as? The Republican Party is beholden to business interests which have no interest in any conservative policy except lower taxes, and they can always bribe the Democrats to provide loopholes for specific interests.Bill Gates is a prime example of this. Buffet or Soros would not be Democrats if they thought that the Democratic would seriously go after the likes of him or the international plutocracy. The plutocrats and the social democrats are allies. They have no interest in small government, since small government cannot help them in time of need.

I am for the Bush plan on illegal immigration here.

Evidently you don't live in California, and have learned nothing from our experience.

I have a novel idea. How about the Republicans in Washington not give their base a reason to do such things.

Stop the thread right now, we have a winner.

I am so sorry then...

I misinterpreted your post...and probably projected what I thought you meant...and that isn't right.

Well, hopefully some of the freepers that ARE planning on voting 3rd party, or not voting, just to teach the Republicans a lesson will have read it...

It is important to think about, IMHO>>

SOME very dynamic Reps are in Congress right now...and they need our help and support, NOT having to answer to Pelosi and Conyers...just because we are angry.

Again, sorry for that first post to you.

The Republicans won't give the immigrants targeted welfare, Instant citizenship (or at least voting rights), citizenship without English, Affirmative Action, all spanish high schools, and open immigration corridors like the Demonrats will

They dont have to. We do NOT have a national ID card. They will get welfare as long as they are here. The ACLU WILL be sure of it.

They already vote and now many more will vote in November because it is now ok for them to come out from hiding.

Illegals do NOT vote republican.

As far as instant citizenship...you are dreaming...as long as they are here...they already have it.

If they can show such contempt for us, then threaten us with a democratic victory, and we fall right back in line and reelect them, what in the world keeps them form continuing with their ways? A personal epiphany? God will show them the Light, and they'll suddenly realize how bad they've been?

Ok, you reelect them and reinforce that behavior. If you don't want to reelect them, you can either vote another party or not vote.

What would you have us do?

No, but the fact remains that NOTHING is final until it goes through committees, compromises, wrangling and finagling. We ALL know that. It happens with EVERY bill. But like Schumer fanning the flames over the ports, we have the LIBERALS trying to incite the CONSERVATIVES to battle each other when NOTHING is settled at ALL yet. That's their strategy -- divide and conquer. It's so freaking obvious. And yet it appears to be working.

I thought we were smarter than that, is all.

Oh no. Not our pro-law enforcement, highly principled Republican Senators. We can trust them. Just keep them in power. Everything will be OK. (sarc.)

That is the best you have got? Stick to raising the ghost of Pelosi. At least it's slightly more effective then believing you can discredit everyone in dissent as a disguised Liberal.

If the democrats win in '08 (House, Senate, President), and there is a conservative court, the Democrats can "Pack" the court with any number of liberal socialist judges. Most people say that the Constitution prohibits this, but they are wrong. There is a law that prohibits this, but all the Dimorats have to do is pass a law repealing the former law. Then, the 'rats can pack the court.

I agree. Yes the spending is out of control in some respects. But also people can differ on aspects of certain things and not have all there conservative principles called into question. There are different lines of thought even among conservatives. For instance there is much more of a protectionist type viewpoint that more prevalent among conservatives than before. That is foreign to my conservative viewpoint and was not prevalent in the mainstream conservative movement a few years back. However, I don't start yelling rhino at them. I understand there are different views and are both legitimate in the Conservative movement.

Again, the Primary is the right place to voice this. Not the General election IMHO. I have had to back Republicans I disagreed with in the past. However it built the party. Its a reason we are here today.

"Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team."

Here is the problem. Your little speach is what conservatives have heard over and over. " It's football season Charlie Brown I will hold the football and you kick it."

THis is the same line that we have fallen for over and over and over to open our pockets. Well my friend we heard if we can just take the house..... and the senate.... and the presidency.... Well we gave MILLIONS of our hard earned dollars mostly in denominations smaller than $200. and guess what we had a majority in both houses and a conservative president that couldnt pass our 2 issues, abortion and tax reform.

Now Dont come around here with your fear mongering when the Democrats still seem to call the shots even though they have a minority. So what the hell good does it do to work so hard to get a majority? Frist ??? P*ssy. Hastert? Same .

You know, if republicans can not handle the identity of being winners then we should stay in the minority and obstruct everything the democrats try to pass. We were pretty much effective at that when Clinton was in office. We could always do it again and save our shoe leather and cash.

Counter act those objections and you will stimulate the base. If not, the nightmare of the Republicans own making will be realized.

THAT is politics my friend!
