Governor Ernie Fletcher has been indicted by the Merit Hiring Grand Jury on charges of conspicacy to commit politcal discrimination. This is culmination of months of investigation by the Attorney General, Greg Stumbo and a blanket pardon from Governor Fletcher. It should be noted that the pardon does not include the governor.
Will we continue to bring you more information as it becomes available.

Where the heck do they get these names and can we have some fun with that name or what?
Many in the GOP will be out of a job in November, they forgot how to fight back; and they forgot their base.
Anybody else remember the "Contract With America"? Whatever happened to that?
Looks like at least the House will turn over to the Dems, which means impeachment hearings for Bush.
And the band played on.
(Denny Crane: "Every one should carry a gun strapped to their waist. We need more - not less guns.")
Better start building a lot more jails, there's lots of Repubs. :-)
That is what it sounds like to me. Hopefully Kentucky Freepers will keep us posted on what is really going on.
Couldn't be the silliness thread. Nobody has been banned, and no threads have been pulled.

The stench of partisan politics is overwhelming here. We shall see.
Well, that's not really more details if you ask me. This sounds like one of those ham sandwich indictments. Bizarre!

Grand jury indicts Gov. Ernie Fletcher
By Ryan Alessi
HERALD-LEADER STAFF WRITER
Gov. Ernie FletcherThe special grand jury thats been investigating state government hiring practices indicted Gov. Ernie Fletcher on three misdemeanors for conspiracy, official misconduct and political discrimination.
The jury also indicted former Transportation Cabinet official Sam Beverage for perjury, which is a felony.
And the jury also submitted to Franklin Circuit Judge William Graham 14 more indictments that are under seal.
Those indictments cover crimes that may have occurred before Aug. 29, 2005, when Fletcher pardoned all administration officials except himself.

Where the heck do they get these names
My favorite this week was the prosecuter in the case of some guys who were gay-bashing in the Caribbean. His name is Taco Stein.
I'm guilty, too. I buy from conservative talk radio hosts' sponsors like pro-flowers
It's at times like this that I'm reminded of a phrase of which I'm fond:
There's only one war and there's only one enemy.
Fletcher is the first Republican govenor Ky has had for a very long time. There has always been something going on in Frankfort for as long as I can remember. The govenors are all crooks, however, most of them don't get indicted until after they leave office. Stumbo is starting early on Fletcher. I must say as well, never liked Stumbo. Politics in Ky is ugly. It's almost like being a king, my daddy used to say.
Isn't Kentucky considered (nominally) a swing-state? I know theoretically it should be considered a Red, but IO remember commentators saying it was a swing recently. I know some high-tech northern liberals down there.
Have at it. It has something to do with being from Kentucky. I was born and raised there (don't live there now), and my grand-parents names were Mossie and Elmer. It only gets better from there. They are lovely people, thought. Salt of the earth.
Who's the head of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, Jim Tollbooth?
