Bill Maher recently heard to say, "Who the heck is Ray Comfort?"
If you are a Young-Earth Creationist, accept the water canopy theory, do not accept speciation, and want on my Six Days Ping List, Freepmail me.
Bwaaaahaaahaa.
Yeah, that was pretty funny.
Why would he? Maher's a goofy liberal talk show host, not a scientist.
Anything is possible in G_d. Even evolution. I still do not see the conflict between salvation and science.
Read Genesis.
My advice to anyone and everyone is to avoid debating Maher because it is a waste of time. He is a comedian turned political activist. His audiences are usually hostile, and his debate style involves a lot of playing to his audience and using them to silence or intimidate.
In other words, there is no intelligent debate on any subject with Maher, only a lot of demagoguery and populism... Like any good showman, and I'll admit, he used to be good when he used to stick to making fun of things just to be funny. Now he acts on behalf of political bias 100% of the time and in doing so, he's taken his show very far to the Left.
We're not talking about theology. There is a conflict between real science and crap science (Darwinism). It's not a question of what God was capable of, it's a question of what He did.
There are a lot of people who think they can fit God in a box and somehow make him stay in there.
Science and salvation are not mutually exclusive. You can have both.
In fact, if you spend enough time studying science with an open mind, one can attribute our existence and that of the Universe to the vagaries of chance, or to God. Chances are that people who believe that God can design such a complex and intricate Universe full of beauty and elegance live much more happily than those who think 1 in infinity counts as a plausible explanation for our existence.
Or, as I say, "If there is no God, nature does one heck of an imitation."
Oh dandy.
Once again we have a creationist who embarrasses conservatives. This creationist bozo would lose. But more importantly, he would lose to a complete idiot like Maher.
Conservatives don't just look bad, we look really bad.
Thanks for the post!
And you know the difference?? Because you are a scientist?? Let's see. Knowing the average creationist on this forum, you have had what, high school science??
The sheer arrogance of you people is beyond belief. The best of you is a junior college all-star. None of you has a degree in science. None of you has ever worked as a scientist. Not one of you has ever published in science. Yet, you will argue with those of us who spent (nominally) a decade getting a Ph.D and have more publications each then the entire output of all creationists and all IDers combined.
Once upon a time, conservatives stood for hard work and accomplishment. We were proud of the fact that we worked harder, were better educated, and accomplished more than any liberal you could find.
Now, any bozo with a HS education can claim he knows real science.
We should take care not to make the intellect our god; it has, of course, powerful muscles, but no personality.

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.

No need to get so upset over something that happened 6,000 years ago... Oh, wait, you believe it happened 4.6 billion years ago. Even better!
Indeed. Why should Maher defend evolution publically when every scientist that tries to in debate largely losses the debate and increases the number of people against evolution. Why do you guys think there is such a dismissive attitude toward debating and an iron fisted approach toward allowing that debate to happen in schools too. Evolutionists are all too aware of the dangers involved in the public hearing the evidence. That is why they'd rather it didn't happen. And that's why these guys are so abusive, snobbish and dismissive on the whole. They know they are an 'endangered species'. The Nazi war machine held to it's propaganda as did the German people even after they were defeated. Many wouldn't believe the truth even when it was shown to them. And today, Neo-Nazis go so far as to say that much of what Nazis are to blame for never happened. I don't offer that as a comparison to Nazi-ism. I Offer Nazi-ism as an example of how propaganda has a life of it's own inspite of truth. Let the whaling commense.
Would it be reasonable to suggest that one's faith and one's political beliefs/doctrines can be neatly separated?
Personally, I'm a creationist. However, that is irrelevant to the fact that I'm a conservative. The two really don't have much to do with each other. This can also serve as a critique of people who are a little too vocal on this forum when it comes to being pro-creationist.
But speaking only for myself, I fail to see how my own views on the beginning of the world (which are actually different from other creationists here) is an embarrassment to YOU as a CONSERVATIVE.
If the banana's user friendly interface was designed by God to make it easy for humans to eat, why did he put it a few thousand miles too far away for early Christians to even know about it.
And what is the pomegranate? A test?
