To All,
I just received a Republican Party Census Document in the mail. Reading through the questions and the selectable answers I begin to understand that the GOP is in a similar dilema to that of the Dems. They seem to be trying to figure out strategy based upon polls rather than trying to actually stand for something...
Now Emmett, that's just silly. Go have a snack or something.
Now don't go ruining their Dubya hate fest! ROTFL!!

So you approve of the 1986 Amnesty plan (IRCA)? How refreshing! :-)
No tax is fair or equitable - obviously you think progressive taxes are "fair". Bottom line - make more, spend less, you'll be better off under te Fair Tax.
The basis of the fair tax is, you purchase the goods, you pay the tax. No loopholes, no special exemptions for favored groups, no tinkering with tax rates to implement a social agenda. It is still somewhat progressive, if that is what you favor, in that a tax rebate check is sent for a specified amount of base consumption.
GOP Party Census Insults Conservatives
No I don't. He was also a Lame Duck President when he did the Amnesty deal. The big difference of course is that back then the number was 1 million [it turned out to 3 million] while today we are talking 11 to 12 million [Bear Stearns puts the number at 18 to 20 million]. Even my hero waited until he didn't have to face voters for the Amnesty Plan of 1986. Let me also mention that the national security risk is also much greater today then in 1986. We hadn't lost the World Trade Center, the destruction of part of the Pentagon or any of the other terrorist acts IN OUR COUNTRY. If you like an open border, so be it, but you are ignoring a glaring hole in our national security.
By the way:
Car thieves are car thieves, not undocumented motor vehicle operators. Trespassers are trespassers, not undocumented easement holders. If you take property from a store without a receipt, you are a thief, not an undocumented possessor of property
Yes it will!
"I'm a conservative, and I'm not insulted."
Sounds like you are more of a republican than a conservative.
Sounds to me you're more like a bunker-diving Libertarian than a conservative.
Yeah! I mean, look what's happened over the past five years! Lower taxes, less abortion, a stronger military, a decimated terrorist infrastructure, stronger 2nd Amendment rights, concealed carry legislation passing all over the nation, conservatives on the Supreme Court and lower benches. Damn them all!!
And you border bunnies wonder some of us come onto these insanity threads simply to laugh at you. :-D
So you still waste postage on the pure crap? Fascinating!
I got one and, altough all the questions were predictable, and I only answered one 'no,' I wasn't insulted either and I thought it was a good idea to reinforce that we still stand for all tht stuff.
That's absolutely the most fair and equitable system out there -- because most of the costs of government services are fixed, not variable. If one guy earns $25,000 and another one earns $250,000 and they both drive their cars 15,000 miles per year on the highway system (you can extend this rationale to any other government function), then there's no reason why the one earning $250,000 should pay 10x more in taxes for the same "utilization" of public infrastructure.
Even the U.S. government itself recognizes the idiocy of "progressive" revenue generation when it comes to dealing directly with taxpayers instead of through the convoluted labyrinth of the IRS. A first-class stamp costs $0.39 these days no matter how much freakin' money you earn.
But. The dollars are rolling in and that means we are crating a more conservative govt., right?
LOL! It's about the donations, not the money. The fact is, the RNC is doing very well with donations which means that most conservatives apparently aren't as dissatisfied as a few.
No name calling Coop. You know the rules, I'm sure.
