Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, Mojo, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.

I was going to put down brownies with walnuts, but since I don't consider that "junk food" I had to reconsider. I have a number of favorites in different categories, but at the top of the list is no surprise to those who visit the Canteen on Thursday nights and Fridays. POPCORN!

Now for the DC Metroland weather report. Today, nice and sunny. Tomorrow, rainy and cooler!

Now, in honor of junk food day, here's some Tantalizing Trivia to go with it.........

Which U.S. sandwich shop was originally named "Pete's Super Submarines"?

Subway. Subway was born in Bridgeport, CT and was the brainchild of 17 year old Fred DeLuca & his friend Dr. Peter Buck.

Which U.S. midwestern fast food chain, known for their famous burgers, celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1996?

White Castle. White Castle burgers are undoubtedly known for their square steamed ground beef patty, grilled minced onions, and no flip method of cooking.

Zteca Mexican Grill is now known by what name?

Qdoba Mexican Grill. The Jack in the Box company owns Qdoba Mexican Grill.

Which U.S. fast food chain was developed based on McDonald's assembly-line system?

Taco Bell. Glen Bell, founder of Taco Bell copied McDonald's systematic idea. He substituted his "Mexican food" instead of "American food". The company was founded on March 21, 1962.

To all newbies and lurkers

Egads! Look at the time. I've got to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!

Now remember, the Canteen is OPEN

So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

Today's FEEBLE

YOKE :

An old man and woman were married for years even though they hated each other. When they had a fight, screams and yelling could be heard deep into the night.

A constant statement was heard by the neighbors who feared the man the most... "When I die I will dig my way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!"

They believed he practiced black magic and was responsible for missing cats and dogs, and strange sounds at all hours. He was feared and enjoyed the respect it garnished.

He died abruptly under strange circumstances and the funeral had a closed casket.

After the burial, the wife went straight to the local bar and began to party as if there was no tomorrow.

The gaiety of her actions were becoming extreme while her neighbors approached in a group to ask these questions:
Are you not afraid? ...Concerned? ...Worried? that this man who practiced black magic and stated when he died he would dig his way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life?

The wife put down her drink and said... "Nah... let the old man dig. I had him buried upside down!"

Good morning Canteeners, Cubies, Newbies & Troops! To answer the day's question, M & M's Peanut Butter flavor! Man, it is GORGEOUS in the Baltimore/DC area this morning! Unfortunately, my shipping schedule at work dictates no lying on the beach drinking Mai-Tais, darn it! Hope all of you are well, and my neverending gratitude goes out to any troops/veterans in here. See ya later today!

Frito Pie, the tempting taste treat of Texas Trailer Trash!

2 cans Chili (without beans)
1 10-oz bag regular Fritos corn chips
8 oz. grated Colby or Cheddar cheese
1 med. onion, coarsely chopped
1 sm. can diced green chilis, drained

Heat chili until warm, add onion and green chilis. Layer Fritos, cheese, chili in a casserole dish, finish with a sprinkling of cheese. Cover and bake 25 min. at 350º.

Serve with ice-cold Shiner Bock beer.
