Tancredo Rips Government’s Spying of Minutemen

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Tom Tancredo (R-CO) decried a recently-disclosed U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) practice of tipping off the Mexican military to the location of Minutemen volunteers. According to a story in this morning’s Inland Daily Bulletin, CBP notifies the Mexican government of when and where the Minutemen are planning to monitor the border and if violence is used by the Minutemen against illegal aliens. There has not been one verified instance of Minutemen volunteers using violence against illegal aliens.

“The Mexican military doesn’t exactly have a ‘good government’ reputation. The Border Patrol has documented more than two hundred incursions into the U.S by the Mexican military, and Texas sheriffs even apprehended Mexican government vehicles that were used to ferry drug runners across the border. By tipping off Mexico’s military to the Minutemen’s location, the U.S. government is asking for trouble,” said Tancredo.

“Heavily-armed military officials stationed only yards from civilians are at least intimidating. I can only surmise that the Border Patrol bureaucrats’ spying is meant to have a chilling effect on the Minutemen’s recruitment of more volunteers,” said Tancredo.

“The Minutemen haven’t been accused of breaking the law. Quite the contrary—they have gone out of their way to aid law enforcement and ensure the safety of our border. The U.S. government has no grounds upon which to stifle the Minutemen’s constitutional right to organize,” Tancredo concluded. “I want to know the legal basis for CBP informing a foreign government of the activities of private citizens who are obeying the law.”

I have tried and tried to understand why Bush is neglecting his base. I can only conclude he is either not truly a conservative or someone close is influencing him to be more socialist. Any way, I found this latest revelation, if true, to be absolutely disgusting.

This "Two-Party Cartel" as I have been calling them for many yrs is bought & paid for by the elites. Again I say that there will be no true conservative agenda come forth by this administration or the next. ONLY when you start voting outside of this corrupt cartel will a change be made. You can't get enough people to refute the cartel because the have been conditioned to believe these fools are actually doing something for us. Yea, a small bone here & there but the big issues we are out of luck. Guarantee you that there will be NO true conservative Supreme Court when GW leaves & I stated that on his inauguration. Betcha Bubba can't figure out how this guy isn't labeled the Schleimeister.

Actually, there is an element here of the Stalinist purges and Stalinist fear tactics in threatening those that dare to speak the truth. But it's not the 90%+ of the posters on this thread...

This is a private website. To speak of Stalinist purges when all of us are here by the good graces of the owner is ridiculous.

Good job trying to track this down, La Enchiladita. Keep us posted.

Indeed. If this story holds up, it is a very serious matter.

Some of us have been harangued and chastised for saying "negative" things like "This isn't the USA we grew up in". Well, I guess some of us were just a lot quicker to notice the changes than others. For me, the recent events prove that the NWO conspiratorialists were right all along.

Too bad that many conservatives have become the useful idiots.

There is a very large, very radical group of criminal thugs across America that illegally snuck across our wide open southern border. More are streaming across as we speak. These people need to be 'taken care of' muy pronto.

The POTUS has, not only the constitutional authority but, the DUTY to act. He could close the border down with the stroke of a pen but refuses to do so.

I am appalled at this dereliction of duty. If that makes me a useful idiot then so be it!

"Mr. President, close the damned border!"

Here's the site referenced:

Someone more fluent in Spanish than I am is going to have to slog through this to find anything that would support or contradict what is being reported.

Vigilantism frightens them much worse than Al Quaeda, they cant let anyone be seen as doing what they cant or wont do.

It's our country. If it takes force to bring it back into THE PEOPLES hand then so be. We haven't left America but it appears OUR government has. Kick every single one of them out.

If President Bush approved informing the Mexican army of the Minutemen's whereabouts, he really should be impeached.

And if he didn't, you, as a noob, should be impeached.

When Fox tells his population to invade the USA, what is the difference between Castro sending the Mariel boat lift into this country.

Some have said there are only 2 reasons this might result in. 1. To avoid the Minutemen. 2.To engage the Minutemen.

I think a third might be to enhance drug movement across the border into the USA. A fourth might be to foment an international crisis to make the Minutemen look bad.

I hate to say it, but Bush will rise or fall on this issue. So far he is failing myserably. Close the damn borders Mr. President.

A couple of years ago I wrote my Congressman upon learning of the arrest of Chris Simcox. This was before the Minutemen project and there were screams of "Racists!" "Bigots!" "Xenophobes!" everywhere for just raising the issue of ILLEGAL immigration.

I feared a Waco-style attacked on the growing number of American citizens trying to do something about ILLEGAL immigration and going to the border.

From what I had learned Mr. Simcox was being trailed and watched by border patrol personnel just waiting, waiting for the opportunity when Mr. Simcox stepped onto any federal property where he could be arrested for carrying his legal firearm.

I asked my Congressman to please watch the doings in Washington and attempt to stop any aggressive moves against more citizens.

Well, I guess the next "Waco" won't be the BATF / FBI HRT against citizens -- it could be the Mexican army doing Washington's dirty work. Who'd a thunk.

This is true: I have long thought that Washington will permit the Mexican army to enter the U.S. should federal employees ask for help on the border -- possibly even to establish "safe" zones for Mexican citizens.

Call me single issue.. please!

So you rather have businessmen makes $$$$ at the expense of American citizens.

Absolutely not. I don't think illegals should be here, period.

Employers need to obey the law, and I know first hand growing up in California, they did not do that in the least.

I agree with you.

Growing up in California, I find "people" with attitudes like your sickening, and worse than those of liberals. At least with liberals, I know what to expect, but from "conservatives" like you, I expect better, but what so many get is a stab in the back.

You are viewing what I said through your prejudices. I did not say what you apparently think I said.

Also, for anyone who wants to check via e-mail, hers is:

sara.carter@dailybulletin.com

I suppose we could check for the Mexican Govt. website, too, as she does not give a link in the article. Actually, I was planning to ask her for that link.

Well, it confirms my surmising HLS was involved in this -- and I can read enough Spanish that it pretty much validates what has been reported.
