U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.
"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.
"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."
Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.
"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.
"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

"I hope you have your exit strategy." Sure do! It's called DEATH.
Hopefully, I won't be around to see the full demise of our once great country.
Can't believe that 535 folks in Washington and their innumerable minions have done such a thorough job.

I've been pissed about illegal immigration since Clinton was in office.
For me, it was The Sierra Club that opened my eyes.
I think it was in the early 1990s that there was an strong debate
in The Sierra Club about whether to adopt a closed borders policy...
in order to save the environment of the USA.
Finally, the Sierra Club decided it just...couldn't...bring
themselves to support a closed border because it would mean supporting
some Republicans.
That's when I first really saw what a bunch of hypocrites
some of the hardcore environmentalists really are.
And that illegal immigration could be a REALLY BIG problem if even
The Sierra Club would allow the USA environment to be trashed where
that issue was concerned.
(I'm an average guy on the environment...want clean air, clean water...
and a skeptic on global environmental calamity newsprint)

Yes - I understand that - since I've never called anyone here a terrorist, no such post was deleted. As for "advocating violence", that is what I was mistakenly suspended for - I think what I have asked to you, or anyone, is when have I ever advocated violence? If anything, I try to calmly point out to people that THEY should not advocate violence, here on FR or in real life.

Is Bush a traitor or what?
The guy I voted for is a close second to Jimmy Carter as being the worst president.

You're not some Zero Population guy who thinks the U.S.A. is over-crowded, right? There have been over 40 million unborn children killed since Roe v. Wade - if we could have handled those 40 million, I think we can handle 20 million too.

Not at all, I'm with the late Julian Simon, not with delusional Paul Erlich.
if we could have handled those 40 million, I think we can handle 20 million too.
Logistically, we could hold the population of all the world, if we
built high enough and deep enough.
But I don't know if I'd like to live in such a place.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...I do have sympathy for landowners on
the border.
I just don't like anybody crappin' up my property. Guess I do sound sort
of judgemental on that.

Good point - I will have to look up "Julian Simon" now though.

Hopefully, I don't have that option any sooner than I'd like it, which means I'll have to jump ship at some point.

God's still on the throne so hopefully there will be a revolution at the voting booth and we can rid ourselves of the lion's share of those 535 parasites. Sometimes I think we'd be way ahead if terrorists took care of it for us.

I can't really "put up" unless you point to said post.

Rush finally mentioned it just moments ago. Said that it hadn't been confirmed, the BP was denying it and there was some confusion.
He stated it seriously not mocking or sarcastic.

I will have to look up "Julian Simon" now though.
Thanks to the MSM, the only way I was acquainted with him was when
he was discussed on Ben Wattenberg's "Think Tank" (on PBS of all places).
This was YEARS ago.
By the way, if I sounded snippy in post 1000, it was unfair.
What I was really inquiring about is this: if Dubya didn't
have the Minutemen in mind when using the word "vigilante",
then was there some other group(s) that he was concerned about?
Heck, I don't want some ruthless loose cannons roaming around on the
border or anywhere else for that matter.
And if Dubya had other groups that were real threats in mind, I just
hoped he'd have exposed them and not use such loose terminology.
