U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Is this supposed to be another one of those "I'm the Chief and what I say is it" moments?

What ticked of a lot of his colleges is that he and the other sponsors porked it into the emergency appropriations bill to fund the WOT...money our troops depended on.
Oh, I can't find anything about this either. Can you help me out here?

While this story has a way to go before it is fleshed out, it appears, at a minimum that there are some badly misplaced priorities, if not loyalties, over at DHS/BP.

Its worse than amensty because it creates an incentive for millions of more illegals to flood this country while allowing the current illegals to keep doing what they are doing.

Sure, when your guy is pandering with the likes of Rangle and Jackson-Lee, pushing the U.S. for more involvement in some African pest hole, being cheered on by Obama...it must be hard to handle.

Well just chuckle away, I don't mind. It just goes to show that you don't really care and are here to disrupt and nothing more.
In the mean time, support what you claim or tuck your tail and run.

You are correct on these points of international law, however the minutemen however you may fell about them are US citizens, therefore any detention of am illegal alien is de facto and de jure an arrest by a citizen and not different from any other arrest by a citizen.

Which is exactly why that information gets passed to the consular officials--it's an arrest, and we're obligated to report those.

Also any report of the US government monitoring the movement of US citizens on US soil for the purpose of notifying a foreign entity of such movements is high treason against the constitution. The original patriots fought over less, the Confederacy fought and died over less.

Go back and read Article III, Section 3, and then explain how complying with consular notification requirements is high treason, m'kay?

Oh, and bitching about "high treason against the Constitution" and praising the Confederacy is a really mixed message.

I hope you don't mind after all these years of providing a good chuckle to so many people.

Ok college boy, wait till you get into the real world and see what this mess has created and spawned.

Oh, by the way, Johnny Cash wrote a song that you should listen to. Its called "Don't Take Your Guns To Town".

Listen to it carefully because college prepares you for nothing but surprise once you hit the pavement with everyone else.

Sure, when your guy ...
There you go again...another inference when you have no idea if he's "my guy" or not.
...is pandering with the likes of Rangle and Jackson-Lee...
Another pathetic attempt at insinuation...this is getting old.
...pushing the U.S. for more involvement in some African pest hole, being cheered on by Obama...
And yet another attempt at association. You've been there already. Try a new tact.
...it must be hard to handle.
I'm merely countering what you claimed and have yet to prove. I'm not having any trouble "handling" what I've read in the bills I've linked or the bill that you directed me to. I see nothing sinister in any of Tancredo's actions.
That you do is telling.

LOL! Still not looking back in FR and complaining it's someone else's fault. I'm glad he has you to defend him and his obsession with Darfur.

And par for the course here comes another unsubstantiated claim.
You'll just let it hang out there with no support, won't you.
