Current Poll - 13% of members will turn it over to the rats????

Posted on 05/06/2006 9:51:50 AM PDT by Sonora

Current poll:

"A time for choosing: It appears that a significant number of our members are so disgusted with the GOP's failure to secure our borders against illegal aliens that they are willing to risk all by voting them out of office, even if it means Pelosi, Reid, Hillary, et al, are allowed to take charge. Is this the best course of action or should we be working harder than ever to hold the line and actually try to make a difference by getting more constitutionally-minded conservatives elected? Are you willing to give it all up or are you more determined than ever to keep the Marxists out of power?" _____

So far, 13% of members and 18%+ of participants in this poll say - turn it over to the rats. What's with that? I cannot believe that 13% of those posting here are so stupid or angry with what is happening that they would turn to the rats for the way back to perfect. Now, 13% will result in a winning vote, in a lot of cases.

Anyway, I guess that there is no compromising for some people - just dig a hole and live there while the rats are in charge. I'm so disappointed.

You ask good questions...because I don't know about the party as a whole...I would be curious to see what "platform" they would write, if the POTUS election was this year...

However, I do know that some "pundits" are saying that with the Hispanic population growing, along with the black vote, and remarkably even the Muslim vote...the dems are set up quite well in the near future, UNLESS the Republican Party "opens up their tent more"...

Those aren't my words, or what I want...just what is being told to the politicians....so, unless you want to be the "odd man out', like Sen. Coburn is, and even Mike Pence right now...you go along, to get along.

THAT needs to change, but I doubt that we can do it in one elections cycle, do you??

"Doesn't matter."

No, it doesn't. Trying to dissect what this poll is comprised of is pretty silly. It is what it is. Reminds me of the Dubai poll when some for the deal claimed all against were uninformed idiots. I'm sure both for and against were comprised of like percentages of "uninformed idiots", just voting with their respective herds.

"In the same vein, the true conservatives seem convinced that somehow a donk administration would not affect them."

Come on now. It seems very clear many feel the two are simply to alike for it to be very different. I myself realize it would probably be worse, but to what degree I have no idea. If this poll (and others) are any indication, I'll find out soon enough.

The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals. Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals. Eight American children would not suffer the horror as a victim of a sex crime.

First of all, if there are more illegals now than last year and the year before that, etc., then your LINEAR extrapolation is TOTALLY INVALID AND YOU KNOW THAT.

While I commend you on providing a link, I do not commend Peter King for not providing documentation for numbers that seem about 50% too high to me. When I watch the local news in Baltimore, Wash DC and Columbus OH, virtually all the murders seem to be commited by black male citizens. King's stat implies that about 15% of murders of citizens are by illegals. If Baltimore, Wash, and Columbus are at all representative, this number is wrong.

Finally, did this guy actually blame illegals going to the ER for hangnails and claiming the triage nurse made citizens wait behind?

No, I don't think effective change can occur in one election cycle because you will continue to have districts re-electing people, just because they bring home the gravy, to hell with everyone else. Other times, of course, you have people fed up with bad behavior and they boot out the rat (i.e., Daschle).

I've looked at the Republican Platform and I would say, the values stated are conservative values, not moderate, not left of center. So, why do they constantly bend over for the Rats (who do not do the same when they are literally in power)?

The one thing I don't understand is why people that are trying to bring a base back together use such words as mornon, stupid etc to keep them on the reservation.

To marginalize people. The other option is to do as you say, acknowledge that conservatives have a point about the mismanagement of their majority status based upon expectation and promises made from the prior campaign(s).

Look, sometimes people are what they are. Trolls. Or those that have never served to help advance the GOP Majority or conservatism. They deserve to be labeled for what they are.

But on some issues the discontent is real and not the result of "purist malcontents" or Liberals infiltrating FreeRepublic. And I do think some people need to acknowledge that those unhappy have more than one reason to be. That the Republicans have not handled their Majority status well, and at times have seemed to prefer shutting out the voices of their base to coddle people like McCain, NYT's or those that have a bias against Republicans that is unmoveable.

And if the best argument someone has to keep Republicans in power is that they are not AS bad as Democrats, well, that sort of validates the case for those upset does it not? And if that "reason" isn't good enough for conservatives, why does anyone think it'll be good enough for "swing" voters who have no affiliation to party?

Instead of attempted marginalization of people upset it's time a better answer be developed to vote for Republican. because a better answer will be necessary if anyone hopes to bring on "swing" voters to the ticket in the fall.

Case in point, jveritas at least in one dialogue awhile ago did as you suggested with me and I appreciated it. I haven't really reversed my position, but I respond far better to someone that attempts to go beyond the standard, "Democrats are worse".

I do thank you for advocating the namecalling be abandoned and folks instead make the case to vote for Republicans. People upset with the GOP are far more likely to respond to your attitude and a strong argument based on fact, rather than anger that a "Freeper's" vote for the GOP doesn't come by right of birth.

I see the borders is part if national security and being weak on national security while claiming to be the best party to fight the WOT is a idiotic to say the least.

So little time, such a foolish thing to say.

Do you have any idea of the alternative, nimrod? Teddy Kennedy, Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha? How dumb are you to say something like that?

*Slapping forehead*

Pee Wee Hermann would be better than them.

Do you actually think the administration does nothing on the border? Do you actually think they sit there and do nothing about our border, when they are pursuing terrorists around the world? Such a silly fool to presume that.

Have you ever considered they might, just might be saying nothing because they don't want our enemies to know.

It takes a lot to make me say this....but frankly you border crazies are just plain thoughtless and stoopid when you say stuff like that.

Do you not realize that they are laughing their collective tails off at the GOP for passing measures that they 10 years ago could only have dreamed of doing? Oh Please Mean Republicans don't throw us in that there briar patch LOL. Yea I just bet they are really upset. Yea right uh huh.

So you tell me what is the GOP going to do when someone like Hillary gets to use all those new powers the GOP let the POTUS have? Well uh duh uh duh? Yea and that's the point of it. The GOP is helping create the abuse of powers the DEM's will have.

The nation survived decades of Teddy Bugger & Dems before the GOP came to power. It survived because the Conservatives fought the good fight. The one and only thing that has changed is the GOP as a party {excluding some} has lost the will to fight and instead only works to save their pathetic beloved political seats.

Hehehehehe; the alternative to what a compeltely open border? What are the dems going to do that Bush hasn't, roll out a red carpet?

Let me know if you ever have an original thought. The evil Dems arguement has been running as a republican tree shaker for 20 years, and it has gotten us nowhere. If that is the best the GOP can come up with then it is just about out of gas.

I think in the Senate we have a very ineffectual Majority Leader...and since he pretty much sets the agenda, or at least the rest of the GOP doesn't seem to fight him much..

I think he should be held accountable quite a bit...and even though a lot of freepers blame Bush for not imposing himself on the Senate and House...

Bush really does beleive in the separation of powers, even though the Congress doesn't believe it...and so I think he expects them to do their jobs..while he does his.

Remember, President Bush was espousing a Constitutional Amendment for marriage being between one man and one woman...but I didn't see the Congress doing their part to carry the ball down the field.

He has stated that he is against using fetal stem cells with government money for research...and Frist basically stood up in front of the world and told him "too bad"...

There is enough blame to go around...but, there is definitely a disconnect between the voters and Washington, and between the POTUS, and Congress.

Do you actually think the administration does nothing on the border?

The majority of voters do think that. Bush is in the 20s now on this issue. Under 30 = he lost his base. Bush lost his base on this issue

Do you actually think they sit there and do nothing about our border, when they are pursuing terrorists around the world?

The majority of voters do think that. That's why Bush's border polls are in the 20s

Have you ever considered they might, just might be saying nothing because they don't want our enemies to know. (YOU DONT MAKE SENSE)You are really grasping here

"You border crazies..."

BORDERS ARE PART OF NATIONAL SECURITY. IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO VOTE FOR THE PARTY (THE R) NO MATTER WHAT AND DESTROYS THE PARTY. YOU DO NOT HOLD THE R RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CAMPAIGN PROMISES.

I AM RIGHT...YOU ARE WRONG... THE POLLS AND THE MAN ON THE STREET ARE IN SYNC THIS TIME. IT'S UNFORTUNATE BUT THE POLLS LOOK BAD FOR THE GOP. MAYBE INSTEAD OF CALLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE "IDIOTS AND FOOLS" YOU SHOULD EMAIL YOUR GOP LEADERSHIP AND TELL THAM WHAT THE MAN ON THE STREET IS SAYING. WHAT A SHAME FOR YOU TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR POLITICIANS INSTEAD OF SEND THEM A MESSAGE. PEOPLE LIKE YOU HURT THE PARTY. YOU ARE SATIFIED WITH STATUS QUO...

status quo on crosses coming down from our buildings, the struggle the GOP has in getting up or down votes on judicial nominees despite its majority status, Spector pretty much laying the red carpet of impeachment at the feet of Turbin Durbin, the WH appeasing the left by claiming it did a terrible job during a HURRICANE and will do better next time and allowing the left to claim we went to Iraq solely for the purpose of WMD, we've got lollipops for terrorists in GITMO to appease the media, gas prices at $3 a gal and oil prices that are scaring hardcore republicans in Maine who HATE Baldacci but may vote for him out of fear not so sure they will be able to afford heating oil for their homes this winter and THIS from a party and administration that said "if you want to drill AMWR and build new refineries...give me a majority" Well, Im NOT just a "border crazie"...I'm crazy for results of the above mentioned issues.

The northeast US depends on oil to heat their homes and the price to fill the tank in the home surpasses what a family can afford without either taking out a loan or voting for a socialist state government that will help pay. It's a choice to many of them...go into debt, vote for a democrat or freeze to death.

It's NOT how this freeper sees it, it's how Americans are thinking right now.

We need results. Not $100 shut-up money.

I need results to convince others that it is really is best to vote GOP.

I've not listened to him speak because there's something about him that I don't like. I don't know what it is but it's there. I can't put my finger on why he affects me that way but he does.

Pat is also anti-Israel, and is NOT for the war in Iraq, and doesn't much care for Bush's idea of democratizing the middle east...

There's a few reasons right there.

Thanks for the info, Sleuth.

I am convinced that most of these people are DU trolls. The rest are not smart enough to realize that you can never undo the damage the rats inflict on this country. They think that punishing the Republicans by giving the rats a term can put more conservative Repubs back and undo the rat damage.

They need to look at the damge inflicted by the Clinton's. We have a miserable justice department, the CIA is almost unfunctional, the state department is useless. This from the Clinton administration. Hell, we are still living with the results of the Johnson administration.

If they really want to put in conservatives who will be bold enough to attempt to undo the rat damage, they first have to change the national media. That is happening, but it won't come overnight like these people want it to.

I've never liked the man, myself, pbrown. I've learned about these things about him not that long ago. But before I knew these "few reasons," there was also this instinct of "I don't know what it is but it's there. I can't put my finger on why he affects me that way but he does" with me, as well.

No one is saying there aren't problem within the republican party

But you don't fix the problem by throwing the entire party over the edge and giving control to the liberal socialist democrats

Like a garden .. you don't throw Round Up on the whole garden and kill the the entire crop

You little by little pull the bad weeds

Pick and choose the worst weeds to pull first

For example .. we can still keep control of the Senate and toss Chaffee to the curb.

Play it smart or we will lose the whole battle and everything we have worked so hard for

He never interested me enough to learn about him, probably not a wise thing to do but, I didn't feel like wasting my time learning about his ideologies. I'm glad my second sense about him panned out.

I've just seen so many people here on FR called Bucananites(sp?) I finally asked what constituted a Bucananite. :-)

PS and I'm not one of them. lol

As disappointed and disgusted I am with the Republican party regarding some issues. I would NEVER vote for a dem or give them power for even one or two years. We are at war with terrorist who want to destroy our civilization. In a few months or even weeks, the Dems can unravel everything that's been keeping us safe. Many don't even believe there is a war on terror.

Yes, I wish the border was closed, fenced, etc. to increase our national security. But if the dems were in power, the borders would be wide open and they would have us cut and run in the Middle East. More attacks would be forthcoming because we would be seen as cowards.
