Current Poll - 13% of members will turn it over to the rats????

Posted on 05/06/2006 9:51:50 AM PDT by Sonora

Current poll:

"A time for choosing: It appears that a significant number of our members are so disgusted with the GOP's failure to secure our borders against illegal aliens that they are willing to risk all by voting them out of office, even if it means Pelosi, Reid, Hillary, et al, are allowed to take charge. Is this the best course of action or should we be working harder than ever to hold the line and actually try to make a difference by getting more constitutionally-minded conservatives elected? Are you willing to give it all up or are you more determined than ever to keep the Marxists out of power?" _____

So far, 13% of members and 18%+ of participants in this poll say - turn it over to the rats. What's with that? I cannot believe that 13% of those posting here are so stupid or angry with what is happening that they would turn to the rats for the way back to perfect. Now, 13% will result in a winning vote, in a lot of cases.

Anyway, I guess that there is no compromising for some people - just dig a hole and live there while the rats are in charge. I'm so disappointed.

More than a few present RINO's would be indistinguishable from those on that list.

Lieberman would be good on national defense, but you can't name one RINO, let alone a few even in the ballpark of the other Dem wackos on the list.

I like Allen, but he too will be bound in some ways by politics.

And what the hell will this accomplish?

Either option presented in the poll? Nothing at all. Primary season is coming to a close, if not over altogether. That being the case, those that won the primaries are Republican faithful. So there's no point in even providing the first option. Except that if you speak out against them, you must not 'be working hard to elect conservative Republicans'. Don't get me wrong, these poor saps will say what many want to hear, rally the troops and promise the world, but once in office will do what they choose (in many cases the opposite of conservatism).

Of course conservatives won't vote for Democrats for the most part but more than likely vote third party or not vote at all. However to the party faithful and the simple, this can be seen as nothing other than voting for the 'DemocRATs' (as the faithful spell the word). Fortunately, the Framers did not see it this way. Voting was a privilege to cast a vote for who you believed in, who you agreed with, and who you felt would best represent you. It wasn't always party centric. Unfortunately, on the other hand, 95% of the American public see elections as some sort of team sport, 'us vs. them'.

Of course to return to a Constitutional Republic (of which we no longer are) we should be working to overturn the 17th Amendment and remove the popular election of the President of these United States. Two things would occur almost overnight. The airwaves would be a lot clearer as we wouldn't have to hear soundbites from the morons in Washington hourly. With all the extra time on their hands they may get back to the business of the federal government. The popularity seeking contests would end and many who are in power now wouldn't be there. Yes there would still be partisanship, but a good portion of those that have been elected over the years wouldn't be there either.

Exactly...it is an obsession everywhere...and so what happened???

The ultra lib groups took advantage of this obsession and threw it back in America's face with these protests and boycotts....

Do you think they would have gotten all of that attention and impetus and MONEY to fund these protests if they didn't see it as a "wedge issue" with Republicans???

but to let it all go to the rats is insanity

I respectfully disagree. The reason people don't understand is that they are too close to the fire. I believe that you and I want the same thing. However, you are too focused on the battle rather than the war. Republicans win the battles time after time but the war is being lost. The liberal agenda has been advanced more in the last 6 years than in the previous 30.

Many conservatives have recognized this and realize that to win the war, we need to lose this battle. If the Republicans win again and continue down their misguided path, the war will surely be lost.

Another way to look at is to compare it to sports teams. Sometimes you need to cut under-performing veterans in order to bring in younger players. The result will surely be a losing season or two but the objective is to have a very competitive team in two to three years. The difference being having a mediocre team for years or a championship contender in two to three years.

Keep in mind, the objective is to have a conservative government in place as soon as possible. When you analyze the situation, the only real way to accomplish this quickly is to vote against those Republicans who have sold us out.

And those who are against stopping the illegal alien invasion are for:

In the 1700 days since 911, 20,400 (12 per day) Americans murdered by illegal alien invaders, 22,100 (13 per day) Americans killed by uninsured illegal alien drunk drivers and 13,600 (8 per day) American children sexually assaulted by illegal aliens.

Above extrapolated from figures given on Web Site of Iowa US Rep. King, a very rare non RINO with guts to tell it like it is.

Possible. Too slow on his feet.....a bit boring, I think unelectable.

Doesn't mean I don't think he might be good as President, just that he is unelectable. Just my opinion......I would love to be shown different as the campaigning starts.

No, you aren't alone.

I see them complaining about how tired they are or how they've had it with "voting for the lesser of two evils" so now they are going to actually or de facto vote for the "worse of two evils".

And they seem to think that makes them morally or intellectually superior to the rest of us. And I used to think the libs were the ones who didn't function logically.

You vote for the lesser of two evils and then you don't just go home - you keep the pressure on the lesser of two evils virtually all the time.

This constant pressure is necessary because enough normal people of principle and backbone don't/won't run for office.

""In 1994 the GOP promised us specific changes. They have not kept their promises and will not defend our borders""

I believe that something like 70-80% of the contract with america was signed into law.

you shouldnt think that if the DEMS get back into power, that the GOP will be able to regain power in 2-4 years.

In fact, it's the truth; you just can't see it because of your tunnel vision.
Interesting what the cut and run crowd is doing. They are disowning or cutting those off at the knees like Mike Pence and the 100 others that are working within the Party to try and turn this mess around. Yet you don't hear Mike Pence and his group calling for leaving because they know you can't accomplish something without being the majority and they know that they will never be the majority with such parties as the Constitution Party, LP, etc.

"There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." -- James Madison

Well, that's exactly what Indiana Representative Mike Pence and 100 fellow House Republicans are out to answer -- how to make the Republican Party the home of constitutionality and conservatism once again. ......

Enter the Republican Study Committee.

Founded in 1973 by Rep. Phil Crane to reinvigorate the GOP as the party of constitutional constructivism and social conservatism, the RSC became the premier mobilizing agent for House conservatives, dedicated to "a limited and Constitutional role for the federal government, a strong national defense, the protection of individual and property rights, and the preservation of traditional family values."

In 2005, Rep. Mike Pence became the Committee's chairman for the 109th Congress. He and his fellow conservatives have rallied around principles outlined in a speech last fall, "Another Time for Choosing," picking up the central theme of Ronald Reagan's famous 1964 speech "A Time for Choosing".

Today, under Pence's leadership, the RSC is the originator of the Contract with America: Renewed, created by Representatives Pence and Jeb Hensarling, with the aim of reviving the legislative agenda of Newt Gingrich's original 1994 Contract with America. It was that agenda, readers will recall, that catapulted Republicans into control of Congress for the first time in over 40 years.

Yep, the cut and run crowd can't see the forrest for the trees much less solutions to the problems that maybe workable. They'd rather stomp their feet and vote for the losing party and never have control. Damn Mike Pence and those working within the party to try and be effective.

Sometimes a deeper valley is required to bring people to a catharsis.

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger" only applies if it doesn't kill you. I don't want to think about how deep a valley the liberals could throw us in if they thought they had one last crack at power to solidify their position. Shudder!
