Well, I don't know what kind he has, but either it leads to frequent misbehavior, or he just uses it as an excuse for misbehavior. Maybe I didn't say it quite right, but what I tried to say is that if people have behavioral problems they can't control, that's tough on them. But if they have behavioral problems they can't control, they don't belong in congress. It's possible to sympathize with someone who has problems, but that doesn't say they should be put into situations they are incapable of handling.
It could be, in Kennedy's case, that he's just spoiled and stupid and unwilling to control himself.

LOL, I agree. And every time I see his announcement played on TV today, I hope he has THE hangover of his life.

I haven't seen an answer to this:
If Pat Kennedy has no memory of his little drive last night, WHY is he certain he was never offered special treatment?

More importantly, if addicted where is he getting an adequate supply? Is his doctor over prescribing or might he be ... wait for it ... doctor shopping??? filling his scripts at different pharmacies? coercing his staff to fill them under their names? Hmmmmm? If you look up you will see a lot more shoes floating around up there, just waiting to drop.

I remember that one, too. The one that Howie Carr uses as Patrick Kennedy's theme song is also a bit maudlin, but perfectly apt: "Patches, I'm dependin' on you son, to pull the family through. My son, it's all left up to you..."

Good one.

"Yes, so does Rush."
Have you read what Rush is accused of doing, or are you just generalizing. Rush was never accused of DUI.
Most if not all of Rush's pain meds were prescribed by 2 doctors in the same building, and most were Hydrocodone, not the "evil" Oxycontin the media led us to believe.
As a suffer of debilitating pain that requires me to take Oxycontin, I'll tell you, without hesitation, Rush committed NO crime. The Hydrocodone he is accused of taking the most is one step above Tylenol, and at one time I was prescribed 12 per day of the most powerful dosage.
Part of the "2000" pills Rush is said to have taken during that 6 month period was his antibiotics, and medicine having to do with his hearing surgery (not pain meds.)
Rush did become dependent on the pain medication, but his situation is nothing like this guy.
Kennedy drove drunk, and is trying to cover it up with a pain medication excuse. I'm surprised he didn't say cold medicine.

"According to Rush, he drives himself everywhere. Even pumps his own gas. Imagine that!"
So when he was high on pain meds. he drove??"
No, he wasn't. People who legitimately need pain medication do not get "high". They only get relief.
I am speaking from experience. I take Oxycontin 3 times a day. Thanks to this wonderful drug I am now able to lead a normal life again. I function in society just like anyone else. The only way you would know I am taking the medication is if you happened to be around me when it wears off. If I was kept from my next dose, you would see my level of activity decrease from what most people do, to lying in bed, and crying in pain, and having to urinate in a portable device beside my bed because I'm not able to walk across the hall to the bathroom.
From all I've read, Rush was almost in the same pain as I am.

Your posts make sense if --and for me it's a huge "if"-- one is to believe Kennedy is actually bipolar. I don't believe a word of it, and I think for him to use this excuse is a slap in the face to people who truly are bipolar. Kennedys always lie.

In his statement yesterday, he didn't say a thing about "prescription pain medicine." Very fishy. As I stated yesterday, junkies take phenegran because it boosts the effects of narcotics (i.e. opiates). His reference to "pain" medication was definitely a faux pas. Unless he is detoxing right now, there would still be some narcotics in his system. He couldn't handle the withdrawals at this point. The ambien excuse was simply a cover for the demerol he was taking.
