CNN reports Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) will hold a press conference today at 3 p.m. in Washington, D.C. to discuss his recent traffic incident on Capitol Hill.

Patches should have been arrested and charged, at a minimum, and THEN he can tell us about all his problems........ how long before he's on Oprah weeping about it??

In the article he states: The younger scion of America's most storied and star-crossed political dynasty has battled his own demons. He admitted in 2000 that he was a mental health advocate because he had wrestled with depression since he was a teenager - and that led him to abuse cocaine.

If it was anybody else, he'd be serving time. But he's a Kennedy.

He also is obviously an alcoholic.

That exacerbates the situation exponentially. This guy is imbalancing his chemicals drastically. So yes it is a chemical imbalance.

Well I would. No Kennedy would leave the cushy life with out a fight. Remember he is the one that said, "I haven't worked a ****in' day in my life"

If a Kennedy would resign from something as benign as this, then his daddy would have resigned after murdering MaryJoe Kopechney.

That's a Howie Carr-ism. "Patches" is the title of a 1970's AM radio R&B song by Clarence Carter, in which a dying father expressed his hopes for his son to carry on the family name and tradition.

Someone will correct me if this is wrong, but it seems like I recall seeing him just about always wearing those sport jackets with the "patched" elbows. At least I used to...don't know about lately.

Oh, that song. I thought it was the other Patches song, by Dickey Lee. "Down by the river .... that flows by the coal yards ... stand wooden houses with shutters torn down ... lived a young girl everybody called Patches ... Patches, my darling of old Shantytown."

Couldn't figure that out with Patches Kennedy, since the Patches in that very sad song is a girl. She is found floating face down in the dirty old river and the guy singing the song, who was supposed to marry her next June, even though his family said she would disgrace and shame him, says at the end "Patches, I'm coming to you." *sniff*
