Imagine you're a US Senator. A citizen has just suggested that the CIA Director and named FBI agents merit the death penalty as much as convicted terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui. Do you:
A. condemn such an outrageous comment? B. move on to another topic? C. congratulate the citizen for making "an absolutely accurate point"?
If you're Joe Biden [D-DE], the answer, incredibly, is 'C'.
Here's how it went down. In a 'Hardball' devoted to reactions to today's jury decision giving life in prison to Moussaoui, both Rudy Giuliani and Biden had expressed regret that Moussaoui hadn't been given the death penalty, in light of the fact that he knew but failed to disclose the 9/11 plot.
When 9/11 widow - and harsh Bush administration critic - Kristin Breitweiser appeared, she had this to say:
"I would appreciate someone asking either Senator Biden or former Mayor Giuliani, if their standard for death [penalty] is withholding information from the FBI that could have have prevented the 9/11 attacks, how then are we excusing FBI agents Maltbie and Frasca who were accused or allegedly accused in the Moussaoui penalty phase itself of being criminally negligent with regard to giving a FISA warrant. How would you explain George Tenet who withheld information about two of the 9/11 hijackers for 18 months from the FBI, information that certainly would have gone a long way into preventing those attacks? And I'd like to know where are we drawing the line here, what is the threshold, and why are we not holding those types of people in our own government accountable?"
Chris Matthews offered Biden a perfect 'out': "Senator, is there a criminal intent there, or do you see a distinction between the behavior of public officials and Zacarias Moussaoui, who's just been sentenced to life?"
Biden shunned the life-line that Matthews tendered. Apparently intent on pandering to the most virulent of the Bush-administration hating left, Biden enthused "I think the juror, er, the family member, makes an absolutely accurate point about people not being held accountable." He went on to draw a distinction between criminal negligence and criminal intent, though it was not clear whether he was referring to the US officials or Moussaoui, since he added "I'm not second-guessing the jury here."
Bear Biden's performance in mind when, during the course of the 2008 Dem primaries, the MSM describes him as a 'moderate.'
These people are frightening.
My Fox radio station replaced Tony's show at night, with John Gibson...he is a HOOT!!!
He is just blasting all the people that are "glad" it was life instead of the death penalty...
Also...he is really predicting a Bush impeachment if the Dems take the House (haven't we all)...but he is getting calls saying YAY...LOL
OReilly had some liberal weenie on who basically said the same thing. These people are beyond sick. They hate Bush so much, they appear to love the terrorists. Well, maybe they DO love the terrorists. Just more reason to make sure that come this November we make sure we get to the polls to ensure that Pubbies keep the majority in both house and senate. Liberal democrats CAN NEVER be given the chance to govern again.
This really makes me want to vommit.
She IS getting on with her life. This IS her life now.
Agreed. They have shown themselves to be so hateful and so anti-American, it is impossible to consider giving them any more power than they already have.
Her husband may not be as sorry as some were that the towers fell. It may have been a relief to him. One can only imagine the nightmare of being married to this woman.
Everybody loses loved ones in indecent ways, whether it's the towers, a drunk-driver, being thrown off a cruise ship, or as an unlucky bystander in a drive-by shooting. We do not excuse those people for acting like total jackasses and lying their butts off before every camera some whore like Chris Matthews gives them.
I have no sympathey for her or her "tragedy." My only wish is that it had been she instead of her husband in the tower that day. America does not need people like her, not one bit. Same for Sheehan, and it does break my heart what Sheehan has said and done in her son's name.
oops....s/be "sympathy", lol.
John Gibson had on Debra Burlingame...and she was NOT happy...and didn't blame anyone else (American)...other than the terrorists..
Breitweiser is a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic.
Unless Ms. K's husband used a different name, he's not in the Portraits 9/11 book.
K probably refused to submit one.
I'm laughing at callers calling into Alan Colmes show .. LOL!
I get Alan in 30 minutes...I am glad the callers are making you laugh. I need a good laugh tonight!
Sometimes I can't listen very long to Alan's show.
She is on my local radio ... you're right .. she is NOT happy about this
I saw her claim long time ago that she is a Republican but every time I have watched this woman she has been bashing President Bush and the whole administration. Also maybe I'm mistaken, but wasn't she on the campaign trail with Lurch?
If anyone should get the death penalty, Jamie Gorelick would be number one on my list. She is the one that built the Chinese walls that prevented the FBI and CIA from sharing intelligence.
I {gasp) agree with Biden here
